“Okay, I’ll have them release all the information to every outlet and King Jodra.”

“Thanks, Raheem”

I went home to my wife. Who still hasn’t told me about my father and where my children are living. I did put a tail on Knox. He would lead me to them.

I arrived home to an empty house. I saw the note on the table. My first thought is, “This can’t be happening again.” I take the paper, which feels like lead in my hand “I had to go home, can you stop by,” the note read. I let out a sigh of relief. She didn’t run away again, not like that would have stopped me from finding her. I picked up the phone to call her.

“Hello”

“Are you home?”

“Yes, just getting here. Your place is nice but I’m missing a few things.”

“Okay, I’ll finish up here and come over to you.”

“Okay, see you later and Naseer.”

“Yes”

“Thank you for saving me.”

“Always, my lady. See you soon” We hung up.

I put some of my things together. I watched a video of my father staring at the TV. He’s alone because of his actions. My mother can’t reach him unless she goes through me.

I spoke with Josh and Ken, to let them know Jade is fine and will be back at work. Ken sounds happy.

“Ken, you sound a little too happy about overworking my wife.”

“Hey, the woman is a genius plus she loves her work. A win-win for us all,” he says with excitement.

“Doesn’t mean you have to take advantage of her.”

“Like that’s remotely possible when you are around.”

“Fine, once her contract is over. She’s done”

“Come on, Naseer, I’m sure we can work something out. You can’t keep such talent hidden you know.”

“I’ll let you know what we decide once her contract is over,” I say hanging up before they try to convince me otherwise, something I’ve now realized Josh and Ken are pretty good at.

I pack up a few things and head to Jade’s place. I use my key at her door. I doubt she would lock the chains, knowing I’m coming over. I didn’t tell her about Traci. She thinks it was just an honest error that Traci gave her the sandwich. Turns out Traci had it all planned out. She had to eliminate Lucy first to get to Jade. The night before the attack Traci, Lucy, and Shay had gone out and we found the waiter she paid to poison Lucy’s food causing her to be sick the next day. Inviting Shay was certainly a way to make it less suspicious, but Lucy had to be taken out to get to Jade.

If Lucy had been in the office, Jade would not have gone for the sandwich. Lucy was always in control of everything involving Jade, something everyone noticed that you had to go through Lucy to get to Jade, and the only way to get close to Jade was to make Lucy sick. I must admit it was the perfect plan.

It scared me to think they almost killed her. It almost worked. I stopped ordering the EpiPen when I didn’t see Jade but soon as she came back. I pre-ordered it. Good thing the doctor had told me the expired one can still work and I’d kept two in my office. I can’t imagine what could have happened to Jade had I not had that EpiPen with me. The painful thought that I could have watched her die and not be able to do anything still nags me and it makes me rage inside towards my dad every time the thought crosses my mind.

“Naseer,” she calls out when I open the door.

“Yes, are you okay?”

“I’m fine, just watching a movie on Netflix. I just talked with my children; they are fine.”

“You mean our children, Jade,” I reply, causing her to jump out of her seat.

“Sit down, Jade. I know they are mine. We need to talk,” I calmly state. No point waiting on her to bring it up, the rate at which she’s going my daughter will be at the altar before Jade mentions it.

“No, they are not yours, Naseer, and there’s nothing for us to talk about. I’m leaving Rhanaz once my contract is over,” she retorts.
