It doesn’t change anything between us?

INDY: Absolutely not

Fuck I love this girl. Now, I wish she were back here, with us. The rules are changing. This is meant to be fluid and change as it needs to. And I don’t want us to be apart anymore. Where does that leave Mik? He can come too or take over Indy’s lease. Whatever he wants, we’ll make it work. A groan of frustration escapes my throat.

“Everything okay?” Cam asks.

I drop my head to the back of the couch. “I want more.”

“What do you mean?”

CHAPTER 16

CAM

Something changed last night with us. I’m afraid to lose him, too, and that scares the fuck out of me. He’s much more open with his sexuality than I am. Still, I’m not sure if he would ever see me as more than a metamour, anyway. He’s so into Indy. She’s his world. I’m so fucking confused with him, about why I feel this way and how it got here. I wasn’t supposed to fall for him, too. This was only supposed to be for her.

“Honestly, I don’t know what that means, exactly. I just know I want it.”

He’s deflecting, and it might be for the best. I have to take care of this drama with my family tomorrow and adding these new feelings…it’s a mess already.

“There was something that made you think it,” I say anyway, because I’m a glutton for punishment.

“I want more time with the two of you. Today was…” he trails off.

“It was nice. And now she’s gone, and it feels unbalanced,” I finish, because I feel it, too. She’s our anchor. We can bob and move around, but we can’t get too far. Her pull is too great.

He nods. “Exactly. And this shit with not seeing you all week needs to end. We need more than a weekend boyfriend.” I arch my brow at his choice of words, and I can’t help my smirk. “Don’t make me regret saying that,” he huffs, rolling his eyes.

“Jay, I work late most days. It’s not practical for me to come all the way here, to her apartment, or the bar for an hour.”

“That’s exactly what I mean.”

I sit back on the couch, trying to read between the lines.

“Tell me what you want, Jay.”

This is out of character for him. He’s usually the first to say what’s on his mind, in his calm and almost nurturing way. He sighs heavily, stands, and walks to the kitchen. He’s scared. He’s scared of what he’s thinking—of what he wants. I follow him. He doesn’t get to walk away right now.

His head is bowed down, as he stands leaning over the sink.

Fuck it.

I’ll force it from him. We’re about the same height, but I’ve got weight on him. His muscles are leaner than mine.

I step up from behind, putting my arms on either side of his body. Gripping the counter, enveloping him, I block him from leaving. My front presses against his back.

His breath hitches, and his eyes squeeze shut. My lips graze his ear. “What. Do. You. Want?” He shudders. “Use your words, Jay. What do you want?” I ask again softly, pulling my arms closer to him.

I need him to say it. I fucking need it.

He lets out another shuddering breath. “This,” he whispers.

“Me?”

He licks his lips, pulling his bottom lip into his mouth. “Yes.”

I smile on his skin before kissing his throat. A low moan rumbles in his chest. Pressing closer into his back, I kiss down his neck.
