The passion.
The pain.
I wanted to wake up with her in my arms, but reality was cruel sometimes. I kissed her until my head spun, and my heart ached.
When her hands pressed into my chest, I knew my moment was over. As our lips parted, my heart pounded. Neither of us said another word to each other as I walked out the door and headed down the hall to the guestroom.
The next morning, I expected to be woken up as I always did to Meadow’s morning playlist—the sun beaming through the curtains, and her laughter with Chef or Laurie, depending on who was around when she started her day.
Instead, silence greeted me. It was almost noon, and no one had come in to check on me. I sat up in bed and checked my phone. No missed calls or texts from Meadow. However, there were several messages from the crew.
