And it was perfection.
He had no problem finding the perfect spot to caress and he did it beautifully. Rona gasped, lost in sensation, the room spinning around her as she held on tight to Bain. Her anchor and her tormentor.
A hand tightened on her breast and she wailed because there were clothes between her and his touch. She wanted more. She wanted everything.
And she wanted it now.
“Bain!” She called out his name as a command. An order to do her bidding. Or a plea for more. It was all mixed up together.
“So beautiful,” he said in a voice she didn’t recognize. One tinged with desperation and awe.
Skilled fingers pressed and stroked, pushing her higher and higher, until the air was thin and breathing was impossible.
“My Rona,” he said with satisfaction before teeth gently bit down on her shoulder.
Time stopped and she was suspended there, above the earth, waiting for eternity. Then, in an explosion of light, and sound, and sensation, she fell to earth.
To Bain.
Bain had never seen anything so beautiful as Rona losing control. As he watched her come apart in his arms, he knew that all the nights he’d spent with other women had been but a shadow in comparison to her. Those experiences faded away to nothing. There was only Rona.
As she gasped for breath, limp and dazed on the bed, Bain gently turned her to face him.
“Bain?” she said, sounding disorientated as she looked up at him, her face faintly illuminated by the glow from the clock.
“You okay there?” he asked as he traced the curve of her cheek with his fingertips.
“Oh, yes.” Her smile was satisfaction itself. The kind of smile that made a man feel ten feet tall.
“You think you might be up for a wee bit more?” he asked as his hand trailed over her shoulder, down her side and rested on the full curve of her hip.
“More?” The breathless word sounded eager.
Bain smiled with satisfaction. “Aye, more.”
Her sigh was decadence itself. “Yes, please,” she said.
“Then we should probably get out of these clothes,” he said, tossing back the covers.
“I can’t move,” Rona complained. “My muscles won’t work.”
Bain stood beside the bed and shrugged out of his sweater. “Don’t worry, I can undress you where you are,” he said with a wicked smile.
Rona licked her lips. “First put the light on. I want to see you,” she demanded.
“How about we save that for tomorrow’s treat?” He liked the darkness, liked how it seemed to caress Rona’s skin and keep the world at bay.
“Tomorrow?” her eyebrows shot up. “I thought you were a once-and-done kind of guy.”
“Rona, Rona, Rona.” Bain pushed his jeans down, taking his boxers with them. “Listen very carefully, because even though I’ve said this before, it doesn’t seem to be sinking in. I’m a changed man. I left my one-night stand days behind me years ago.”
She gasped, and when he stood back up, her attention wasn’t on what he was saying. Clearly, he shouldn’t have said the important part just as he took off his pants. Never mind, he’d go over it again later, when her brain was working.
“I swear…” she said, sounding awe struck at the sight of him.
Bain’s ego, which he admitted was already inflated, swelled further.
“You swear what?” he said as he reached for a condom.
