I push out my lower lip in a pout. “I can’t do it alone, who’s going to reach my back? And I can’t get my incision wet. Maybe you should give me a sponge bath, instead.”

That earns me a smile and an eye roll. “You're lucky you’re cute. Come on.”

In the bathroom, I start trying to take off the zip-up hoodie I’m wearing and immediately get stuck.

“Good grief, just let me help!” Olivia might sound exasperated, but I see the smile she’s fighting. Together, we get me stripped down to my boxers before I raise my eyebrows at her.

“Are you going in fully clothed?”

“You’re incorrigible.” She removes her shirt and pants, keeping her sports bra and underwear on.

Doesn’t matter that she’s covered, she still makes my dick hard. Something that does not go unnoticed.

“Well, at least that didn’t get damaged when you fell.”

I step in close, snagging her waist and tugging her against me, so she can feel just how not damaged I am. “Perfect working order.”

With a laugh, she pushes me away. “Shower first, Romeo.” She points down at my boxers. “Which means those are staying on.”

“Fine, fine, I know I’m irresistible.”

She giggles again before leaning in and kissing my cheek. “You have no idea.”

I groan, then yelp as she splashes ice-cold water at me from the shower. “Mean!”

With a lot of laughter and only a couple of winces, we manage to get me not smelling like three-day-old socks stuck in the bottom of a gym bag. Unfortunately for me and my dick, the process completely exhausts me, and I’m stumbling as Olivia helps me into her bedroom. Seriously, I didn’t even do anything when she removed my sopping-wet boxers and helped me pull on a pair of dry shorts.

That's how tired I am.

I collapse onto the bed with a grunt, my eyes already closing. “Thanks, Pix. I just need to lie down for a minute.”

I feel her draw a blanket up to cover me, and then soft lips brush my temple. “Rest as long as you want. Your body needs to heal.”

She pulls away and I blink my eyes open. “Will you stay?” I ask, my voice rough with the bone-deep exhaustion that comes from an injury. “Please?”

“Of course, I will.”

She climbs into the bed beside me, carefully arranging herself against my side. I lift my good arm, and she nestles in closer. I let out a deep sigh. “Perfect. Love you, Pix.”

I’m halfway to unconsciousness when I say those words. But I’m awake enough to get the sense I’ve said them before. And that I probably shouldn’t be saying them when I’m almost asleep.

But then I hear four words that might be a dream.

“I love you, too.”

This time when I wake up, the room is dark. Olivia’s still at my side, but I hear the soft murmur of her voice and realize Griff is back.

“How badly did you lose without me there?” I ask groggily.

“5-3 win for us, you cocky asshole. Valencia was our starter and kicked some ass. You might need to watch your back with him.”

“Rude.”

Griff just grins. “Oh, and Harold said to tell you to take your damn meds.” The last four words are said in a close imitation of Harold’s grumpy old man voice, and I snort.

“I’m surprised he’s not here hovering.”

“I offered to drive him over, but he had a doctor’s appointment.”
