He shrugged.

"I figured captains need coffee."

Scott pointed dramatically.

"He's learning."

Frank stood beside Rose with one arm around her shoulders.

She rested her head against him while they watched flying fish skim across the water.

They didn't say much.

They didn't need to.

Some people spent fifty years learning how to talk to each other.

Those two had spent fifty years learning how to enjoy the silence.

Ward noticed them again.

His expression grew thoughtful.
