She smiled.
There it was again.
That tiny smile that almost seemed surprised every time it appeared.
"Can't sleep?" she asked.
"It's not even nine."
"You've been awake since six."
"So have you."
"I've been awake since four."
"I know."
She finally looked at me.
"You've been keeping track?"
"No."
"You answered awfully fast."
I smiled.
"I notice things."
She leaned against the chart table.
"I noticed."
Far below us...
Scott's voice drifted upward.
"I caught one!"
A second later...
Ben answered.
"You caught my fishing line."
"It still counts."
"No."
"It absolutely counts."
More laughter.
Storm shook her head.
"They've been fishing for twenty minutes."
"They've caught each other three times."
