Beside him, Nova’s spoon hit the side of her bowl. Yes, a bowl, not the little cup she had been eating from earlier in the week.

Snow looked at it and grinned. “I see we’ve graduated.”

Nova glanced up and scrunched her eyebrows together. “Huh?”

He nodded toward the bowl. “Ice cream. First it was a cup. Now you’ve moved on to an entire bowl.”

“It’s stressful here. This is medicinal.”

Snow snorted. "Is that your professional legal opinion?"

“Absolutely,” she said with a smirk.

She scooped up another bite, and Snow immediately regretted starting the conversation when she slowly licked a streak of ice cream from the spoon.

His gaze locked onto her mouth.

For fuck’s sake.

“Snow?”

He dragged his attention upward. She was watching him.

“Hmm?”

“What’s your real name?”

That wasn’t what he had expected, but it was welcome considering his dick was hardening by the second.

“My real name?”

“Yeah. Unless your mother was really committed to a winter theme and actually named you Snow.”

He laughed. “Gabriel.”

Her brows rose. “Gabriel.”

“Gabe to my family.”

“Gabe,” she repeated.

Something about hearing his name from her lips did strange things to him.

He cleared his throat. “Yeah.”

“So, I’m guessing that Snow is your call sign?”

“Unfortunately.”

Her eyes immediately brightened. “Oh, this sounds promising. How did you get it?”

“It’s not nearly as exciting as you’re hoping.”

“I’ll be the judge of that.”

Snow shook his head. “There was an incident during winter survival training.”

“What kind of incident?”
