An hour later, Jenna propped her head on the back of the train seat. The rumble of the wheels on the track soothed her. She stretched out her legs, closed her eyes, and attempted to sleep. Unfortunately, she had monkey brain. So instead of snoozing, she made a mental list of her blessings.

Stacie had texted. The anesthesia was wearing off, and her father was back to his usual stubborn self. Although they misbehaved, her children were healthy and intelligent. And a nanny with potential was on the way. At least she had half a manuscript written. That was way better than a blank page. If Thomas McMurry could give her a couple of weeks, she’d fulfill her contract.

“See,” she told herself, “things aren’t so bad.” So why the feeling of doom? And why were monstrous flies with evil red eyes banging against her chest?

An image of Matt leaning close with his lips parted slammed into her, and she whimpered. The damn man was too handsome for his own good. He was also an arrogant, cheating, no-good scoundrel who happened to be the father of her children and her first and only love. She cradled her forehead in her hands and moaned long and hard. She needed to chase Matt Gibson from her mind and body.

Jenna retrieved her phone from her purse and slid through screens until she came to a new photo of Hunter Stone. He was naked except for red devil horns. He held a pitchfork, and the red heart emoji covering his pelvic area read:Tip to unlock

According to the caption, 523 people had tipped Hunter $6,425.

Jenna stiffened and called forth discipline. “No! No! No!” She was not so desperate that she’d tip a man for a peek at his penis.

She double-checked her DMs. He hadn’t written to confirm their date. However, crazy ABC had filled her inbox. Curiosity got the better of her, and she scanned the first message.

This is all your fault. You are a lazy cunt. Why aren’t you writing more Duke books? I swear you will be sorry for this someday, very soon. Do you know what he is doing?

Jenna’d had enough of everyone and everything. She had no idea whohewas or whathewasdoing—unlesshewas Hunter Stone? Even though Berta had asked her to be gracious to her fans, she pressed theBlockbutton beside the cat photo.

According to Stacie, mediation cured all woes. Putting her phone down, she closed her eyes.Breathe. Hold. One, two, three. Exhale.

To be fair, Stacie also said sex cured all woes.

Jenna sat tall, clasped her phone in her hands, exhaled to a count of five, then sent Hunter Stone a tip.

Round and round a little circle spun as her payment processed. The evil little flies turned into butterflies that pirouetted in her stomach and chest. Her heart was the only thing not spinning out of control because it had dropped and was tickling the soles of her feet.

The image on her phone became clear. She brought a hand to her mouth to cage her gasp. It was pointless. Airwooshedfrom her in a moan that probably reached the conductor’s ears.

In what was the sexiest of teases, Hunter held an old-school camera over his cock, displaying more than any photo she had yet seen. About an inch and a half of his shaft was visible and what pubic hair she could see was as thick and sexy as she’d imagined. The juxtaposition of his shaved chest, against his full bush was decadent and suited his devilish grin. And dear god, that tantalizing happy trail in the center of it all was too much. A hand dropped to her lap and pressed on the ache.

The couple seated in front of her couldn’t see her, and the man across the aisle was asleep. She peeked diagonally to find an older lady absorbed in a book. Jenna took off her jacket and used it to cover her lap. Her hand slid inside the waistband of her skirt, and she spread her thighs. Running her finger along the crotch of her damp panties, she slowly stroked until she couldn’t take the throbbing one more second. She slid her finger under the silk and into her folds.

She explored and played until she cried out with a gasp. The man beside her opened his eyes and looked her way. She ignored his knowing chuckle. Her eyelids slid closed, and the world and her problems drifted away.

Chapter Twelve

Post-workout sweat dripped from Hunter’s forehead, landing on his phone. He wiped his forearm across his brow and used the edge of his T-shirt to dry the screen before reading the disturbing InstaFriend message for the third time.

Wait until you see what I’ve made for Lizzie and Buddy. They are the cutest dogs in the whole entire world. I love them so much!

He cringed, then pressedBlock.

From out of nowhere, something brushed against his shoulder. “Fuck!” He jumped and swatted.

A wide-eyed Clark stood beside him. “Sorry, man. Didn’t mean to startle you. You’ve been kind of jittery.”

“Shit! Would you stop sneaking up on me?”

Clark held up his palms and took a step back. “Sorry. I’ll tie bells on my ankles so you know I’m coming from a mile out.”

“Or you could just keep your damn hands to yourself.” Hunter exhaled and composed himself. “Sorry. How was your lunch date?”

“Eh.” Clark rolled his hand back and forth in a so-so motion. “I see you made over seven thousand smackeroos in tips today.”

“Yep.”
