“Ay, take some of that––”

I cut him off. “Where you at, man? What’s up?” I yanked my truck door open and did a double take when Shade, who I hadn’t even known was following me, hopped in the passenger’s side. “Look, you can let me know where you’re at or I can hunt you down in the streets like the bitch you are.”

“And I’m gon’ spit on you when I see you,” Shade added.

“Nigga––”

I hung up before he could finish the bullshit he was about to say and started my truck.

“You know where to find him?”

“Not right now but I know he’s going back to Retta’s spot.”

“Why Retta’s spot?”

“Because he knows I don’t have a reason to know where she lives and he’s too scary to go to his own spot or a family home.” I scrolled through my contacts and tapped Charm’s.

“Hello?” she answered instantly. “Is Myome okay?”

“Yeah. She’s good. I need Retta’s address. You got it?”

“Uh, no. I’m sorry. I think she moved sometime after Myome left the group.”

“A’ight. Thanks.” I hung up and dialed Allison.

“Hey, Drix. What can I do for you?”

“You got Retta’s address?”

“Retta?” she repeated.

“It’s a yes or no question and the less you know the better.”

“Drix––”

I cut her off. “I’m not going to hit or kill her.”

She exhaled. “I’ll text it to you.”

“Thanks.”

“Of course.”

I hung up and glanced at Shade while I waited for her message to come though.

“Thanks for looking out for Myome,” I said.

“Don’t worry about it. I got her.”

I glanced over at him. He chuckled.

“Man, chill out. I just meant that Myome is cool people, and after everything that the two of y’all have done for me, I wouldn’t even let anybody play in her face like that.”

“Yeah, a’ight.”

“Yeah, a’ight,” Shade echoed. “Besides, y’all two crazy asses are meant for each other.”

“As long as you know that shit.”
