He moved his hand a little before he grabbed it and lifted his hand. He chuckled.

“Man, it’s a lil piece of that fucking lamp.”

I hadn't even realized a lamp was missing but I found myself immediately looking around the room to see if anything else was missing.

“The fuck y’all be doing in my studio?” I shot him a look.

“Us?” Alan scoffed. “Nigga, that was Myome in here slinging bitches and knocking shit over.”

“My wife Myome?” I sat up.

“I’m not even trying to be funny, but Drix, how many women you know named Myome?”

“Who the fuck was she fighting?”

Alan and Shade both looked at each other in sync. Rome whistled and shook his head.

“Damn,” he mumbled.

“If she ain’t tell you, I’m good.” Alan cleared his throat and looked forward.

“Alan, I’ll make you eat that soundboard if you fucking play with me. What happened with Myome?”

“We don’t know for sure,” Dashawn said. “Alan was supposed to be producing that last Radiant Reverie track. When me, him, and Shade came through Charm and Myome was fighting Trapp.”

“Trapp?” I repeated. “Trapp was fighting my wife?”

“I wouldn’t use the word fighting,” Alan offered. “He was more so just getting his ass whooped and bleeding from his face.”

“I upped the fire on him and he left. It was in and out,” Shade assured me. “Myome said she was good and she didn’t look like he’d gotten the chance to hit her or anything so…” He shrugged. “She got walked to her car after the recording and that was it.”

“I mean she beat the fuck out of Retta and slapped Niecy up too.” Alan snickered.

“The night she recorded that Radiant Reverie song? So what? Three days ago?”

“Yeah, about,” Alan nodded.

“But we figured Myome would tell you that shit popped off. I mean, y’all tell each other everything else.”

“Yeah. A’ight.”

I pulled up the label’s security camera footage immediately. It didn’t take me long to find the footage from the night Trapp had entered my wife’s session without permission. Honestly, I was proud of my baby for holding her own, even if she didn’t need to. Charm had her back, which was to be expected, but it was nice to see anyway. I made a note to slide some extra cash on to her check when I sent off her first payment.

I pushed up from my seat and dusted myself off.

I blanked out the bullshit Rome and Alan were talking and headed toward the parking lot. The thought of Trapp putting a hand on my wife was enough to have me driving my truck through his bullshit ass house with his mama strapped to the hood.

I called Trapp while I headed toward my truck. It rang until it went to voicemail and I called back again. When that call went to voicemail, I called Retta. She answered three rings in.

“Hello?” She sounded genuinely confused but the fact she even answered was stupid as hell to me.

“Bitch, put your man on the phone before I shoot your mama house up.”

There was silence on the line for a second then I heard mumbling and fussing before Trapp came on the phone.

“What’s up, Drix?”

“You told my wife you were looking for me, bitch. What’s up?”
