I should have listened to my best friend when he told me not to get involved with someone at work. Now my ex is dating the girl from HR and I can’t make it through a day at the office without someone asking me how I’m doing. I’m so sick of it, I invent a boyfriend. That keeps everyone off my back until our CEO invites the whole office to his wedding. If I don’t show with my fake boyfriend, everyone will know I’ve been lying all along and my ex will never let me live it down.

The owner of the Iron H Ranch where I work has gone too far this time. He’s requiring all of us cowboys to go on the auction block to raise money for the failing ranch. When Jericho calls in a panic and begs me to pose as her boyfriend at her boss’s wedding, I agree. In return, she has to pretend to be my girlfriend and win me at the auction so I don’t have to spend an entire day with an overeager female guest.

Two fake dates later, I can’t tell if I’m still pretending or have fallen for my curvy best friend for real.
