Upper northern Scotland is not an easy place to live in, but after her marriage, Tovie must call the Highlands her home. While waiting for her husband to return from war, the lass spends most of her time getting used to the harsh people of her new clan. Niall Fraser is the half-brother of Laird Wallace, and after defeating him at battle, he is on his way to claim control of the Wallace clan. Tovie freezes when she sees a rider covered in blood arriving at her castle to take it over and is sure that her life is about to end.
