Why had I ever agreed to fake date my sister’s boyfriend?
When Elizabeth Bennet accidentally gives her sister food poisoning—preventing Jane from attending her boyfriend’s career-defining investor reception—it seems the only decent thing to do is to play the part of his plus one in Jane’s place. It’s meant to be a little white lie that will hurt no one—until Bingley’s oldest friend and primary backer, Fitzwilliam Darcy, arrives unannounced. Bingley, mortified to be caught in a lie, begs Elizabeth to keep up the charade just a little longer.
A few days becomes weeks of too-close, too-often proximity as Elizabeth is stuck working with the arrogant and aloof Darcy at Bingley’s company. They clash at every turn, until a family crisis and a trip to Accident & Emergency reveals a difference side of him. Alas, with Bingley insisting that she keep up the fake relationship, it’s too late to start falling in love.
Then George Wickham walks back into Elizabeth’s life—an old friend, now engineer for Bingley’s fiercest competitor, and the one man Darcy cannot forgive. One misconstrued drink, and Darcy thinks he knows exactly what she’s been up to. He’s catastrophically wrong.
Can Elizabeth prove her relationship is fake for all the right reasons before Darcy takes action that could lose her everything and him the woman he loves?
Stuck is a modern Pride and Prejudice variation.
Tropes: fake date/fake relationship – friends to lovers – Darcy and Elizabeth happily ever after – second chance romance
