Caroline Bingley intended to catch Mr Darcy in an arranged compromise…but when the trap sprang shut, the woman caught behind a locked door with Mr Darcy was Elizabeth Bennet!
Having thoroughly compromised Elizabeth Bennet, if only by accident, Mr Darcy sees no choice but to marry her. He will do what honour demands…and as his appreciation of Elizabeth’s sparkling eyes and quick wit continue to grow, the demands of honour feel remarkably easy to follow. Still, there remains one chance to dissolve their unwanted engagement; namely, if they can find the person who locked them into the study at Netherfield, and prove their innocence.
Elizabeth Bennet is determined to marry for love…but given a choice between marrying Mr Darcy and seeing all her sisters ruined with her, she’ll marry Mr Darcy. The idea of proving her innocence in the compromise and being freed from the engagement at first seemed like a lifeline. Yet as Elizabeth begins to know the real Mr Darcy, she sees a generosity of spirit and nobility of character she never could have anticipated. Becoming Mrs Darcy starts to seem like a remarkably desirable proposition.
And it is then that Elizabeth’s curiosity and insight lead her to a shocking discovery…and leave her faced with an impossible decision.
A Compromise by Design follows the journey of Our Dear Couple as they discover that a disastrous compromise was actually the very best thing that could have happened to them. Readers will enjoy witty banter and growing tenderness between Elizabeth and Mr Darcy, the awful scheming and subtle comeuppance of Caroline Bingley, and a blissful happily ever after.
