The Other Side of Always
Author: Jove Chambers

When we were seventeen, my best friend stole my scent match.
Now, she’s dead, and he’s free.
But do I still want him?
It isn’t him that tells me about Opal’s funeral, not my childhood sweetheart, not the one who got away, not the man who betrayed me and left me an unclaimed omega, half of something, forever empty inside.
If I hadn’t found out on some stray social media post, I wonder if he would ever have reached out.
But when I get there for her funeral, he practically pounces on me, and it’s the same way it’s always been between us. I’m drowning in the scent of him, aching for his eyes on me, longing for him. He pulls at me, like the current of the Red Moon River.
Then I find out I’m in Opal’s will, that she’s left me this manifesto of an excuse, pages upon pages about why she did it, why I should forgive her, and the deed to a building as some kind of peace offering.
What it all boils down to is that I have to escape Riverside, have to escape the call of my past. Because it isn’t just him who I feel drawn to. There’s another alpha from back then, and now he’s all grown up. He’s not my scent match, but he’s never betrayed me either.
But when I try to leave town, I immediately go into heat.
For too long, I’ve been treading water. Now, the current has me, and I’m rushing headlong towards my future, my destiny. One alpha will claim me, but who will I choose?
A small town MF shifter omegaverse with a betrayal/retribution arc, rejected mate vibes, a love triangle, other woman drama, shifted-wolf-on-human action, and so much smoldering angst.
