Again, I was curious as to what was going on, but I forced myself to focus on my work. It wasn’t my place to drill my bosses about what they were doing anyway.

It wasn’t until eleven o’clock that I realized none of my other bosses had come in. I didn’t have any messages from them, so I called Jordan.

“Hey, have you heard from anyone? Do you know if they’re coming in today? I saw Ben earlier, but he disappeared.”

“Uh…”

I could hear the concern in his tone. “What?”

“Justin came in a couple of hours ago. Landon and Langston arrived shortly thereafter.”

“No they didn’t,” I argued, looking around to make sure I wasn’t mistaken.

“They did. They’re…in the back conference room. They said they didn’t want to be disturbed.”

“Oh. Okay. Thanks.” I hung up with Jordan and stared at the hallway.

What the hell was going on? Hadn’t they done this once already? What in the world were they discussing that they had to be so secretive? So much so that they hadn’t bothered to let me know they were in? That was just downright rude. Were they talking about me? Did I do something wrong? I mean, I knew something had happened with Master, the way he had gone missing after our vanilla evening, but surely that had nothing to do with this. Did it?

A million things went through my head and they all revolved around the time we’d spent together over the holidays. The island, the way Master and Sir had claimed me as their submissive during the time we were there. Of course, I couldn’t forget New Year’s or the fact that Justin and Ben hadn’t been at the party. Did something happen to Justin? Was that what this was about?

I didn’t get any answers to the questions, because no one came out to speak to me.

Rather than get all worked up about it, I focused on my email, then went to lunch with Jordan, grateful for the distraction.

BOSS MEETING

——————————————————

Landon

I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE why we’d all been called into this room again.

Well, that wasn’t entirely true. I did know. However, I wasn’t sure now was the time for us to be discussing this. We had work to do and the last thing we needed was to become a bunch of fucking harpies talking about feelings and shit. I had enough on my plate as it was. We’d been away from the office for two weeks and I was terrified to look at my inbox, knowing I would spend just as much time making up for the time I’d taken off.

“It’s obvious things are changing,” Justin declared, addressing all three of us directly. He’d been the one to call together this meeting, so it only seemed fair for him to begin. “It was brought to my attention that the two of you took Luci to TJ’s party on New Year’s Eve.”

We had, but I wasn’t sure what that had to do with anything.

“Yet no one filled me in,” Justin continued.

Langston appeared as confused as I felt. “You were invited to the party. It’s not our fault you opted not to go.”

Justin glared at Langston. “I might’ve changed my mind if you’d have mentioned taking Luci.”

“Why would that matter?” I asked, totally baffled about what the fuck was going on here.

Justin sighed heavily. “It would’ve mattered.” He glanced at Langston, then back to me. “Regardless, it’s obvious things have changed. The dynamic between the two of you and Luci isn’t what we all signed on for originally.”

Okay, fine. He had a point there.

“That does seem to be the case,” I agreed.

Justin was right. Things were changing. As far as I was concerned, they were changing for the better. After the trip to the island, I’d made up my mind about what I wanted. The issue was in convincing my brother that it was time for us to make a move. Unfortunately, every time Langston took one step forward, he took two steps back. For example, the night he walked out of my bedroom and left me alone with Luci. He had retreated from her in a way that pissed me off, yet I hadn’t bothered to call him on it.

“I think it’s only fair that we figure out how to proceed,” Justin said, his gaze bouncing back and forth between Langston and me.

“We could start by going to work,” Langston snapped. “That’s the reason we’re here, right?”

Justin glared at him.

Ben cleared his throat. “I assume we’re discussing our personal relationships with Luci? Not her working here?”

“That better be the case,” Langston said, his tone hard as his attention cut over to Ben. “Her job isn’t in question.”

“No, it’s not,” I agreed. “Quite frankly, she’s the best damn secretary we’ve ever had.” The woman had gone above and beyond what anyone had expected. Not of her, but of the position. We all knew going into this that Luciana was a smart woman. She might’ve been messy at home, but she was organized and consistent. She kept us on our toes.
