Fortunately, Jude had become a great wingman during many of my recent connection meet-cutes and easily picked up what I was laying down. “Oh, actually, it was someone else. But I’m starving. Orion, we should probably stop and get dinner, right?” Before Orion could answer, Jude turned to Darren. “We’d love for you to join us. Our treat.”

Darren didn’t even glance at Jude before he was nodding. “Is that okay?” he asked Orion.

Orion smiled without breaking eye contact. “Yeah, I could eat.”

As I walked toward the parking lot with one arm around my husband and the other one holding the baby carrier, I felt an immense amount of gratitude for the magic that flowed through my veins. I was honored to have the privilege of bringing people together.

If any of the people I connected felt even a fraction of the love that Jude and I shared, I truly was making the world a better place.

Just the way Jude and Archer made me a better man.

When we got to the car, I pulled Jude against my chest and gave him a deep kiss.

He pulled back when he was out of breath, with red cheeks and blown pupils. “Wow, what was that for?”

“Because I love you.”

Jude grinned. “Well, I love you too.” And then he got up on his tiptoes and nipped at my earlobe. “I’ll give you a special kiss when we get to the house so you know just how much.”

I chuckled and swatted his ass. “Every kiss from you is special, sweetheart.”
