Ipracticallyskipfromthe doctor’s office to the waiting car. Though, it kind of exhausts me to do so. My belly seems to have grown overnight, and it’s made moving around harder. No one tells you when you get pregnant that everything ends up different. Nothing ever feels right. I don’t want to talk about the amount of times I’ve lost my balance since my belly began growing. Who knew that it would knock your center of gravity off so badly?
Certainly not me.
“Let me, angel,” Fox practically purrs in my ear as I lift my arm to open the door to the passenger seat. He presses against my back as he reaches over my arm to open the door before helping me inside. Then he hops into the backseat behind me while Austin joins him, leaving Cooper to sit in the front seat beside me.
Cooper enters the address of the old Bass mansion and presses the button for the car to start up. He sighs before turning to me, shaking his head.
“You heard the doctor, Cooper! He said I was just fine to participate tonight as long as I didn’t do any running.”
“Which means you won’t be able to chase your prey tonight, little one.” Austin leans forward so he can see me. “But not to worry, we’ll chase them for you, and lay them at your feet.”
“And then you can torture them all you want,” Fox offers with a grin, making me laugh.
Cooper heaves out another heavy sigh before nodding. “But if you feel tired at all, you’re to stop and rest. Do you understand me, princess?”
“Yes, Cooper, I understand. I promise you—all of you,” I look between the three of them, “that I will do nothing to put me or the baby in any unnecessary danger.”
Cooper leans over to press his lips to mine, before whispering, “We know, princess.Iknow, and I’ll never make you doubt me or yourself ever again.”
That makes me smile as I settle back into my seat. I shoot him a wink. “Oh, I know.”
Austin and Fox laugh in the backseat before pulling Cooper into their conversation, leaving me time to prepare for the upcoming night.
I’ve come so far in the last year. Not only did I seek vengeance for me and Charlotte, but I found the guys again. I founded a center to help people who have been victimized to get the help they need. We have four mobile clinics not only in Fairview but here in Lockwood. We’re hoping by next year to have them in more cities, but this is a huge thing for both the fund and the center.
My hand lands on my belly, rubbing it slowly. That’s another thing that’s changed. We’re having a baby in just a few months. My due date is January 18th, and with our advanced medical technology, the doctors are usually spot on.
We had to adjust our plans for Mayhem this year since I’m pregnant. I hate it, but at least I know I’ll still be able to participate.
Since I outed myself to Lockwood, and then to the world, people have been begging for invitations to Mistress Mayhem’s Mayhem party. It’s kind of ridiculous, but how can I truly be bothered by it when it means that people I want to kill are begging to come? There are a total of eight names on our list tonight, and two of them didn’t seem keen on attending. It’s really too bad for them since attendance is mandatory. I sent along two of my more convincing employees to make sure they show up.
And yes, they are to use any form of persuasion needed—though it’s better if they don’t have toillegallycoerce them into attending, but shit happens.
But tonight also begins my plan to burn Lockwood to the ground. They have no idea what I have in store for them tonight.
It doesn’t take us long to arrive at the old Bass mansion, where we’re holding the party. We’re all met with smiles and hellos by our employees, who are making sure everything is in place because we couldn’t make it here any earlier due to the necessary doctor’s appointment.
I mean, I could’ve told them I was good to go for the night, but I knew they wouldn’t go off my word alone. Hence why we took an appointment when we should’ve been getting ready.
We make it to my room without any hassle. I move straight to the vanity to start doing my face paint while the guys pull on their tuxes that they’ve been complaining about having to wear for days.
I’m replicating my face paint from last year, and I’ll be doing the guys as well. Which is why I’m in such a hurry. Once I’ve finished mine, a glance at my phone tells me I have about thirty minutes before the alarm will sound and we’ll be locked inside.
I make the guys sit side by side, so I move from each of them in turn until they’re done. As soon as I set down the last of the face paint, Cooper is helping me slide out of my clothes. Fox has the midnight blue dress at my feet, and Austin steadies me as I step into it. Fox quickly pulls the dress over my body, making sure all the important bits are covered since I can’t wear a bra with this dress.
Meanwhile, Austin is braiding my hair into a loose fishtail braid. Cooper waits until they’re both done to help me put my jewelry on.
“Come on, the bathroom is the only place that has enough room for me to see all of us together.” If I wasn’t so pregnant, I probably would’ve sprinted because we’re on borrowed time now. My alarm will announce when we’re five minutes until lockdown, so the four of us can head downstairs and make our entrance.
I stop in front of the mirror as Austin, Fox, and Cooper trail in behind me. This dress really does look amazing on my pregnant form. Fox moves to my right side, Cooper to my left, and Austin stands behind me since he’s so much taller. A grin slides across my face as I take in the picture we make.
This Mayhem is going to be the best one yet. For no other reason than the three of them will be right here by my side. It’s going to be epic, and I can’t wait.
The End.
