“Let’s go ask. If they don’t, we’ll find someplace that does.”

“Snowflake, what are ya up to?”

The smile she gave me was devious as fuck, and just like that, my jeans were snug again. Dammit, this girl could never come to one of my swim meets, or I would have a permeant problem for everyone to see.

“Come on.” Ren shockingly grabbed my hand and dragged me along as she walked so fast that we looked like we were racing. Panting, she walked up to the first person she saw wearing a name badge. “Hi, do you offer delivery service for a large quantity of items?”

“Pretty sure we do.” The guy pointed to a customer service sign. “They’ll know for sure.”

“Thanks.” We were off again, and I didn’t care as long as she kept holding my hand. It was official I was whipped. I hadn’t even fucked her yet, and I was panting at her heels. Ren asked the customer service desk, and the next thing I knew, we were being whisked away to a manager’s office.

“Have a seat,” the manager said. “I understand you’d like to make a substantial purchase and have it delivered. What are we talking about here?”

Ren pulled out the fancy card and handed it over as she unlocked her phone and opened a few apps. “I would like to use two-hundred thousand dollars of the limit on this card.” The manager’s mouth fell open. “I’m going to divide it into two delivery locations, and we will choose what to send to each location.”

“I’m sorry, but I’ll need to check with the credit card company before I can authorize anything of that size.”

“Go ahead.”

The manager picked up the phone, and I turned to Ren. “Okay, fill me in. What are we doing?”

“My father and I are not exactly on speaking terms, even more so after what you told me tonight.”

“Okay…”

“There is only one way to get his attention, and that is through his money. I looked online, and there is a large homeless shelter and an abused women’s shelter not far from here. I won’t spend the money on something he can take back. I’m going to spend the money on whatever seems the most useful and have them delivered as a donation in his name. He’s never going to be able to collect it back, and that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Besides, these are both good causes that don’t get near enough help. So it’s a double win.”

“You don’t care that he’ll be fucking pissed?”

“That’s what I’m hoping for.”

My lips turned up in a grin. “Then ya brought the right man for the job. No one can spend like I can.”

We were still laughing by the time we reached the restaurant for dinner. I’d never had so much fun with a girl ever. Maybe I hadn’t given others a fair shake, but no one sparked me to want to do anything more than have sex and move on.

We picked out everything from clothes, food, beds, and blankets to shampoo, soap, and anything else Ren could think of. Once the manager had gotten the okay from the credit card company, we ran through the store with two scanners and four helpers a piece. What had become blatantly obvious was that Ren was fearless and had a heart as pure as her snow-white hair. I didn’t think she saw it in herself, though.

“I still can’t believe we did that. What a rush.” I was so tempted to wrap my arm around her shoulders as we walked inside the pub-style restaurant.

“I can’t wait until he gets the bill. Too bad it won’t be for weeks. The surprise when he turns on this computer to pay off the card…so sweet. Now the question is, do I ignore the ranting phone call?” She tapped her chin, her eyes full of humor.

The hostess gave me a flirty smile as we stepped up to be seated. Usually, I would flirt back, get her number regardless if she was dating anyone, and very possibly hang around to fuck her when she was done with work before never seeing her again. But I wouldn’t be doing any of that.

Her name tag said Sheila, but she reminded me more of a Jennifer for some reason. Sheila batted her eyes at me, but I didn’t feel the usual need to have sex. She was pretty, I hadn’t suddenly gone blind, but there was simply no desire to bend her over a table. But the heated annoyed look in Ren’s eyes…that was a whole other story.

An idea was slowly formulating in the recesses of my brain. Leaning against the wooden stand, I smiled back at Sheila but kept an eye on Ren’s expression out of my periphery.

“Good evening Sheila. Do ya happen to have a booth left with a window?”

Sheila looked a little flustered as she stared down at the squares with Xs through them and names written in others.

“Um…I don’t think so. I’m really sorry about that.” Reaching over the stand, I grabbed the seating arrangement of the pub. “Hey, give that back.”

“Relax, Sheila, I’m only having a peek. There’s nothing wrong with looking, right?” I purposely deepened my voice as I stared at her from under my lashes. Yeah, I knew I was a dick. I also knew the look worked. Well worked on everyone but Snowflake, which was simultaneously aggravating as hell and fucking sexy.

Right on cue, Sheila blushed a deep red and bit her bottom lip as she silently invited me to meet her around back later. I looked away from her hungry stare to the seating plan, but the subtle shift in Ren’s energy pressed in on me. She was getting more jealous by the second. Had I finally found her kryptonite?
