I watched him closely to see if he was joking, but Myles seemed serious about his declaration.
I held up my hands in surrender. “Okay then, I stand corrected.” Myles smiled. “ So I need to ask you another little favor.”
“Another one? Better watch out. Soon ya will be owing me a date.” He flashed a wide grin that showed off his dimple, warmed my insides, and made my stomach turn to goo.
“You’re funny. Look, I was talking to my friend Lizzy from back home and…oh lord. She asked me to get a picture of you.”
I didn’t think Myles could look any happier, but he pulled it off and ran his hand through his hair. “Oh yeah, ya’ve been talking about me with your girlfriend. I’m in the good books.”
“Who said what I had to say was good?” I gave him my best deadpan look while hysterically laughing inside as his smile fell. “I’m joking. I may have said that you’re not too bad when you aren’t being an ass.”
“It’s a start. Gimme your phone.”
“Can I trust you?”
He cocked a brow as he held out his hand for my phone. I wasn’t sure this was smart but, I unlocked it and gave it to him. He went to the camera, and I thought he would just take a selfie, but he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and pulled the two of us together instead.
“You’re going to have to pretend ya like me,” he said, and my eyes flicked up to him, unable to stop my mouth from pulling up as he smiled for the camera.
Myles turned his head and looked at me, and the air instantly charged around us. He was giving me that look again, the one that made me feel like he wanted to eat me…or something.
I quickly looked away and smiled at the camera as he snapped a few shots that looked great before he handed the phone back. I looked happy. I hadn’t seen myself like that in so long that I forgot what my smile looked like. Myles really was sexy. I didn’t dare admit that to him, I could only imagine his reaction.
But, I found myself fantasizing about his unique amber eyes, dark lashes, and equally dark hair. I hated that when I closed my eyes I could still see how he filled out his school uniform and I wanted to see what he looked like under his shirt. But, it was his smile that warmed me from the inside out.
I didn’t realize he took so many pictures and paused when I reached the one where we were looking at one another. My pulse spiked with the intensity of the image and the look in his eyes.
“Are they okay?”
“Yeah, they look great. Thanks.”
“So where to?” The Ferrari revved, and Myles made a face out his window as Theo and Liam walked along the sidewalk. Liam tapped his wrist, and Myles shook his head. I didn’t know what that meant.
“I need an outfit for the party, and I need to go to a large sporting goods store.” Myles gave me a quizzical look, his eyebrow lifting.
“Are ya planning on fishing while at the party?” A playful grin danced across his lips. “Cause if ya are, I know a big….”
I held up my hand, laughing. “Okay! Enough of that. No, I’m not fishing, I like to hike, and this area has a ton of trails. I need some new gear, so I figured I might as well make the most of the trip.”
“Hmm. I can only think of one place for the outdoor stuff. Liam is big into rock climbing and camping, so I’ll take ya to the spot he always goes. I think there is a mall across the road from it, if I’m not mistaken.”
“Perfect.”
I sent off one of the images of me and Myles to Lizzy and immediately got a gif of Jim Carrey from The Mask, where his mouth drops open, and his tongue rolls out. That made me smile.
L: Holy fuckin eh girl! You said cute. You didn’t say drop-dead fucking gorgeous. I think I need to move to Portland.
“What did yer friend think? Do I pass her approval,” Myles asked. I glanced over at him and purposely gave him a little shrug and a non-committal noise.
R: Okay, fine, he might be hot. Happy now?
L: No! I want alllllll the deets, like allllll of them. You two look so fucking cute!!!
“What does that mean,” He asked, his eyes wide.
R: Later, got to go. LUV U
L: LUV U MORE
