The way I’m feeling right now, I may take him up on that offer.
Chapter42
Jacinta
“Hey, babe,” Mason says, answering my call on the second ring.
“Hey.”
“Is everything okay?”
“Yes, I just wanted to let you know that Blake arrived at school safely.”
“Okay, thanks. I was going to call you to see how are you doing? You were quiet at breakfast.”
I pause for a moment. “I’m getting there. I’m on my way to my apartment now to get some more of my things.”
“Why don’t you move it all upstairs … permanently. I love having you living with us.”
“That’s a huge step.”
“You’re my fiancée … it’s only a matter of time before you become my wife, Jacinta. We’ll be living under the same roof then; you won’t have a choice.”
“Okay, caveman.”
“You may as well just move in now to save all the hassle down the track.”
“You’re very persistent when you want something, aren’t you, Mr Bradley?”
“Do you know what I want?”
“What?”
“I want to go to bed with you every night, wake up with you in my arms every morning. Have your pretty face be the first thing I see when I get home from work in the evenings, or be able to snuggle with you on the couch once Blake goes to bed, just to name a few, my list is pretty long. I want all the perks associated with you, Red.”
“You say the sweetest things sometimes.”
“It’s all true. Blake wants you with us too. Last night when I put him to bed, he asked me if you’re going to be living with us forever.”
“When I dropped him off at school this morning, he called me mum again.”
“I love that he does that now.”
“Me too.”
“We’re both lucky to have you in our life.”
“I feel like the lucky one.”
“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to both of us, Jacinta Maloney.”
“I love you,” I say.
“Well, it’s settled. On the weekend, I’m going to move the rest of your things upstairs.”
I laugh. “Stop being so pushy.”
“Just agree to my demands and I won’t say another word.”
