My amazing husband follows soon after, his face buried in my neck. We stay like that for a long moment, sated and breathless in each other’s arms.

“I love you,” Kai murmurs, pressing a soft kiss to my lips.

“I love you too.” I smile, running my fingers through his hair. “My perfect island boy.”

We lie tangled together under the sheets, still flushed and breathless. Kai pulls me closer, nuzzling my neck. “That was…”

“Amazing,” I finish for him with a contented sigh. “As always.”

Kai chuckles. “You read my mind, love.” His lips brush my shoulder, soft and sweet.

Warmth floods my cheeks.

Then his expression softens. “You’re my heart, my home, my everything.”

My breath catches at the raw emotion in his voice. “Oh, baby.” I cup his cheek, thumb tracing the line of his carved jaw. “You’re my everything, too. My always and forever.”

Kai turns his head to press a kiss to my palm. “Always and forever,” he echoes. “And then some.”

We gaze at each other, smiles dancing in our eyes. In this moment, wrapped in Kai’s arms, I have all I could ever dream of.

Here in our slice of paradise, we have the rest of our lives ahead of us. Lazy mornings and passionate nights, quiet conversations and carefree laughter.

One year later…

The sounds of laughter drift through the open windows of our beachfront villa, carried on the warm Hawaiian breeze. I smile as I fold another shirt of Kai’s, inhaling his familiar scent with a happy sigh.

So much has changed in the past twelve months, yet some things remain beautifully the same. Like the peace I find in Kai’s arms, and the joy we discover in life’s smallest moments.

“Mommy, Daddy, come look!” Our daughter bursts into the room, clutching seashells in her small hands. “I found treasures!”

I laugh, sweeping my girl into my arms. “You sure did, bay! That’s wonderful.”

Kalea giggles and squirm, eager to show off her discoveries. I set her down with a smile, watching fondly as she dumps her shells on the bed.

Kai joins us a moment later, hair windswept from his usual morning swim. He wraps his bulging arms around my waist, resting his chin on my shoulder.

“Good morning, my loves.” He presses a kiss to my neck, then nuzzles our girl. “Did you have fun at the beach?”

“I saw dolphins, Daddy!” Kalea bounces with excitement. “And I found lots of shells.”

“I can see that, baby.” Kai chuckles, eyes dancing with mirth.

She cheers, and I laugh along with the two loves of my life. Here in this moment, surrounded by the people I hold most dear, I feel profoundly happy. A joy and contentment I never could have imagined, back when I first met my charming stranger on a flight to paradise.

Who knew that a chance encounter would lead me to a lifetime of love?
