Roman swallowed. “I don’t know.” He took his phone back, calling Angel on speed dial. “Pick up, pick up,” he muttered. When her phone rang out, going to voicemail, he screamed, “Damnit, Angel!”

Abel shook his head, his cell to his ear and his face ashen. “I can’t get a hold of Claire, either.”

Luca looked at the phone in his hand. “Morrigan isn’t answering. But she only just left. She must be safe, right?” he fretted.

“What the fuck is going on? Where are all our women?!” Roman roared, throwing his phone in a fit of rage. It bounced off the wall, landing in the middle of the room.

Everyone was still for a heartbeat before making a beeline for the door. His phone beeped, signaling another message, and Roman walked to it with trepidation. He picked it up, finding an attachment. His thumb hovered over the download button.

His gut was screaming at him, and his hand was shaking. Opening the attachment, he saw a familiar woman, bound and tied, with blood trickling down her forehead and tape covering her mouth. He squeezed his eyes closed.

“Not her.”

EPILOGUE

It hadn’t been hard to break into the woman’s home. Shitty locks and even shittier security cameras. But then, why would a convent need good security? Who would steal anything from a bunch of nuns?

The man creeping silently into the room would. But then, he wasn’t there to steal any material items. He was there to steal a nun.

The floor creaked beneath his feet, the sound loud enough to alert his prey that he was there. The elderly woman rolled over, her eyes going wide. She tried to jump from the bed, but she was old and slow. Grabbing her and pinning her to the mattress was so easy it was almost boring.

“Who are you? What do you want?” the Sister demanded, surprising the man when she glared at him rather than trembling in fear.

“Who I am doesn’t matter. As for what I want...” He quickly bound her wrists together before taping her mouth closed. He wasn’t going to risk her screaming when he carried her out. “I want them to suffer. All of them. And you’re going to help me achieve that.”
