He presses his forehead against mine, his reply fierce. “I’ll always look after you.”

But I’m already shaking my head. “We’ll look after each other.”

Epilogue

TABITHA

By some miracle, we managed to box up the entire house in less than two days, despite the guys doing their best to distract me. The town has too many painful memories for me to ever consider it home, and I’m more than ready to put my past behind me.

A toxic cloud has hovered over the whole town since the showdown. We did our best to steer clear of the locals and keep to ourselves. While some people were grateful we helped liberate them, others blamed me for the whole mess in the first place.

I could’ve pointed out their flawed logic, but I honestly didn’t care either way. I’ve already moved on to what matters most—a future with my men.

As of an hour ago, we packed up the last box.

I can’t wait to start my new life with the men by my side. Bast and Gage are already looking at houses large enough for all of us and our new adventure. Between the gold and my grandfather’s legacy, we never have to worry about money again.

While I’m not sure I’ll be any better with kids than I am with regular people, I believe we can make a difference.

We can give them a chance for a brighter future.

I close the door to the house one last time, then turn and smile when I see the men waiting.

Bast and Gage climb into their truck, Rocky hopping into the back with an excited bark. Pierce sits behind the wheel of my Rolls-Royce, claiming the privilege after arguing with me for a full hour that it’s his job as my official driver to take me wherever I want to go and make sure that I arrive in one piece—like I’d ever do anything to hurt my car, the foolish man—but I let it go.

I take my seat next to him, sighing heavily, doing my best not to pout…and failing, if Pierce’s smirk is anything to go by. River pops his head over the seat, regaling us with antics from the team’s past, and it’s not long before I’m laughing.

As we drive away, I don’t look back. I’m not sure what the future holds, but for the first time in my life, I’m excited to find out.
