“Really?” I take the card in my hand, holding it like a lifeline. The first person I’ve met in the city who actually seems to care.
“Call me, Ivy.”
After I hand her over to the accountant to get her payment information, Sasha leaves and Gemma is back at my side.
“Who was that?”
I don’t know, but I have a feeling she might change my life.
ChapterTwenty-Six
IVY
“Ivy! I’m so happy you could meet me today.” Sasha greets me with open arms, her jasmine perfume heavy in the coffee shop.
“I’m happy to.”
After the gallery opening last night, I soaked up as much time with Gemma as I could. Even going a few weeks without her was too much.
A girl needs her best friend.
“Did you buy anything else last night?” I take the seat opposite her and set down my mug of coffee I ordered before coming over.
“No. I couldn’t see anything else besides those mountains.”
I smile. “They really are beautiful.”
“So, you said last night you are a photographer?” she asks, sipping on her own coffee. Her eyes are glittering as the Seattle sound stretches out behind her. The small coffee shop on the water is just what I needed this morning.
“I am.”
“Do you have anything I can see?”
“Sure.”
Pulling out my phone, I find the album with all the photos I’ve taken recently and hand it over to her.
I study her as she flips through each photo. Her face gives nothing away.
This is always the hardest part when showing my work to others. What will they think?
Too basic?
Not enough character?
Not enough emotion?
“Ivy.”
“Do you like them?”
I wait with bated breath.
“Like them? I love them. How are you not showing these in galleries already?”
“You think they’re that good?”
“They’re stunning. The way you capture the light in the mountains. It’s even better than the piece I bought last night.”
