“Everything okay?” Her voice is full of concern.

“The doctor wants to schedule her to get her tonsils out.”

Ivy rests a hand on my forearm, giving it a squeeze. “You said this was a possibility.”

I rub my hand over the back of my neck. “I know. But it doesn’t make it easier to hear.”

“Did they say when?”

“Monday.”

Ivy peeks behind her—Willow is now fast asleep on the couch—and wraps me in a hug. I sink into her hold.

It’s a simple hug, but something I need right now more than I ever imagined. This woman has woven her way into my life in a way I never knew I needed. It’s always been just me and Willow.

And I was fine with that.

Not anymore.

I need Ivy more than I ever thought possible.

“It’s going to be fine, Mason. Willow is a strong little girl, and you’ll be there for her. And me. And the rest of the Winchester clan. She’ll be well taken care of.”

“Will you come with me?” I whisper into her ear.

“What?” Ivy pulls back.

Resting my forehead against hers, I gaze down into her blue eyes.

“I need you there with me.”

“What about the rest of your family?”

“I’ll tell them to stay home.”

Ivy laughs. “And you think that will work?”

“I’ll convince them. I want you there, Ivy. Willow will too.”

I need Ivy by my side more than anyone else.

“Then I’ll be there.”

Now if only I could figure out a way to get her to stay by my side.

Permanently.

ChapterTwenty-Two

MASON

“When I invited you over tonight, I didn’t think you’d actually come,” Peter says by way of greeting.

“Nice to see you too, bro.” I ruffle his hair as I walk into his cabin.

“You made it,” Nash says, walking out of the kitchen with a bucket of beers.

“You make it sound like you haven’t seen me in years. I saw you at the bar this morning.”
