“Where’s Peter?” I ask, grabbing a box and hauling it inside.
“Right here.” He slaps me on the back as I set the box down. “Have I told you lately you’re my favorite brother?”
I shrug his arm off. “I’m guessing Logan would be the favorite if he was here and could help?”
“Noooo…” Peter laughs.
“He’s at home?”
“We’re picking him up and staying with Gramps tonight. My generator is down and I don’t want to lose power.”
“That’s good you’ll be together.”
Between the three of us, we make fast work of moving everything inside. It’s a maze of chaos, but at least we won’t have to worry about the bar.
“I owe you, Mason. Seriously.” Peter wipes a hand over his sweaty brow.
“I’m a good employee.” A smile splits my face.
“Good brother.”
“Well, this good brother is going to head out.”
Nash grabs his coat and tosses Peter his. The two move in perfect sync. It’s like they didn’t lose any time at all after being apart for so long.
“We’ll let you know when we get home.”
“Thanks.”
The back door blows open, rain now pounding down.
Shit.
Locking up, we all make a mad dash for our trucks. Once I’m safely tucked away inside, I check my phone again.
An hour has passed with no word from Ivy. The text hasn’t even been delivered.
Damn it. Where in the hell could she be?
I want to get home for Willow, but who is there to check on Ivy?
Making what I hope isn’t a terrible decision, I point my truck in the direction of Ivy’s apartment and call Gramps over my Bluetooth.
“Mason. Everything get done at the bar?”
“Yeah.” I blow out a breath, my nerves ratcheting up as the wind howls around the truck. “The three of us made quick work of it.”
“You headed to come get Willow?”
“Listen, Gramps. Could you keep her a little longer? I have to check on a friend I haven’t heard from. Make sure they’re okay.”
I’m very careful to make sure I don’t say she. No need to get the family gossip trails moving.
“Be careful, okay?”
“I will. But I don’t know if I’ll make it back over there before the storm hits.”
Why the fuck isn’t Ivy answering her phone? I know everyone is safe except her.
