God. I love this woman with every ounce of my being. I never want to let her leave.
“You were never a fling, Ivy. Never temporary. You are everything to me. To us. And I want to spend the rest of my life showing you if you’ll have me. And if we have to do long distance for a while, I can suck it up.”
Ivy answers with a searing kiss. Her mouth on mine has every part of my body wanting to be as close as possible to her. Heat courses through my veins as she slides her tongue into my mouth.
I forgot how good it was to kiss her.
It’s like Ivy Connors was made for me. Every bit of her fits perfectly with me. All too soon, she’s ending the kiss. We have a few hours before I promised Willow we’d be home, and I want to make use of every second of them.
“We don’t have to do long distance at all.” Ivy smiles against my lips.
“What do you mean?”
Ivy’s smile hits me square in the chest. And a little lower, to be perfectly honest.
“Would you believe I met someone at the gallery in Seattle that was opening one here?”
“Wait, you’re not going back?”
Ivy shakes her head. “Turns out I hate city living.”
“I thought you wanted to travel?”
“Sasha is going to send me to buy art wherever she finds a piece. I get to fill my travel bug but come home to Dixon.”
“Say that again.”
Ivy smiles, linking her hands behind my head. “I’ll be coming home to Dixon. To You. To Willow.”
“Those are the sweetest words I’ve ever heard, Ivy. I love you.”
“I love you too, Mason. I never thought I’d want to live here in Dixon, but you’re all I want. A life with you and Willow.”
I brush the hair back from her face. “Thank you for loving my daughter so much.”
“She makes it really easy.”
“She’ll be happy to hear you’re staying. She missed you.”
“God, I missed her too. I missed you both.”
I growl. “Fuck, I was driving everyone crazy with how much I missed you.”
“How much?” Ivy lines her entire body up with me.
Oh, yeah. My girl is back and I want to take her.
Right here. Right now. I don’t want to waste any time going back to my house. Hauling her into my arms, I back us against the wall.
“Is there a place we can take this that is more private?” I nip at the tender skin on her neck. She’s just as sweet as I remember.
“Office. Back hallway.” Ivy’s voice is breathless.
Ivy’s lips come down on my neck as I walk us in the direction she told me. There’s a small office, boxes littered across the floor. A desk takes up the rest of the room with a small love seat behind it.
Perfect. Just what we need.
Setting Ivy down on the small couch, I take her in. There is nothing but love shining out of her eyes. I don’t know how I ever convinced myself this thing with her would only be for the summer.
