“I love you, Savannah James.”
“I love you, Cash James.” I pressed my lips against hers in a quick kiss. Keeping her tucked into me, I turned to the reverend and shook his hand.
“Thank you so much for agreeing to do this for us.”
“It was my honor, Cash. I have watched the three of you grow up. I knew it was only a matter of time before I got to do this.”
“We really appreciate it.” He gave Vannah a smile before moving over to my father. We had asked him to stay and eat with us, but he had other stuff he needed to take care of. Ma didn’t let him leave without something though so they both walked him out. Turning around, we were met with Austin, Beau, and Belle. Austin pulled Vannah into a big hug.
“Sis! Welcome to the family.”
“Ugh, be careful, you big ogre, I break!” She tried to shove him off her, but he just laughed and hugged her tighter. Shaking my head, I turned to look at Belle and Beau.
“Congratulation, Cash!” Belle said as she moved to hug me. I hugged her back.
“Thanks Belle.” She moved to Vannah after Austin finally let her go. Once the boys had said their congrats, they all moved over to where Ma and Pops were standing, having returned from seeing the reverend off. Felix and Neil moved over to me after the others had left.
“Thank you both for coming.” Neil shook my hand.
“It’s been an honor to share your special day with you.” He moved away to go and talk with Belle and Beau and I couldn’t help but watch them. Belle seemed to be sticking close to Beau. I turned my attention back to Felix.
“Any news?”
“Nothing to report. He is laying low for now but that’s not for you to worry about today. This is your day to celebrate.”
“Well let’s go get me a beer, then.”
“Now we’re talking.” Felix grinned and turned heading for the others. I followed after, moving to Vannah and put my arm around her waist. I looked down at her and she was chewing on her lip.
“Hey, you okay?” She nodded but I could tell there was something on her mind. I knew that look. I had seen it many times. “Do I need to take you inside to make you talk?”
“No, it’s fine.” She looked at everyone to see what they were doing before leaning in a little closer and made it look like she was just cuddling into me. “How do we explain me not drinking?”
“Just tell them you don’t feel like drinking straight away. No one says you have to.”
“Yeah, but have you ever known me not to feel like it?” I checked to make sure that no one was listening still before speaking again.
“There is a first for everything. Not wanting to wake up the morning after your wedding with a hangover would be one of them.”
“This is true, and we all know how fun I am to wake up on a normal day.”
“Exactly, relax, Sug, it will be fine.” I pressed my lips against her head. Leading her over to the table with the drinks, I got myself a beer while Vannah poured herself an Orange Juice. Ma came up and stood with us.
“Vannah, can I please have a word with you?”
“Sure.” I squeezed her shoulder before leaving them to go and join the others.
“What’s that about?” Beau asked. I shrugged my shoulders.
“Who knows. I’m sure Vannah will tell me about it later if it’s important.” I watched Ma and Vannah as the others talked around me. Ma looked concerned; did something happen that she didn’t want to tell us about? The sound of my name pulled me from my thoughts. “Yeah?”
“You good?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
“So, what do you think about a fishing weekend soon?”
“Yeah, sounds good.”
