“We need to talk. Are you able to close the shop for a bit, Sug?” She nodded and came over toward us. Beau would use the back door to get in, so I didn’t need to tell her to keep it unlocked for him. She locked the door and stopped beside me. Looking down at her, I wrapped an arm around her. While I was here on official business, she needed to know that I was here for her. I could tell she was trying to get a read on me, but I gave nothing away. The sound of the back door closing with a thud had us all looking at Beau who came into view.

“Okay, I’m here. Want to tell me what’s going on?”

“I think we all want to know that.” I glanced over at Neil and Felix who were watching me.

“Oh, so I have to fucking do this?” Felix gave me a sympathetic look but nodded, causing me to narrow my eyes at the one beside him. Neil was so fucking lucky I could hold my temper. It was the only thing stopping me from punching him right now. “For the record, this is fucking bullshit.” Shaking my head, I turned around to face the others who were now watching me.

“Cash, what is going on?”

“You might want to take a seat for this.” I squeezed Vannah and moved her to the back of the store so she could sit down. When they had all taken a seat, I told them everything that we knew. Once I had finished, it was followed by silence. It was Beau who broke it.

“Where is Dale now?”

“Last word is he is still a few states away. We have eyes watching him and as soon as he steps into Georgia, he will be arrested where we will go and meet him. The last thing we want is him anywhere near here so we will do whatever interrogations at another station. We have some clear footage of him with Holly so we can hold him on those grounds.”

“What if he slips through again? Do we just sit around and wait for him to come after me?” Belle said as Beau wrapped his arm protectively around her, pulling her into his side.

“We won’t let him near any of you. We are going to put protective details on all of you or you will have one of us with you at all times.”

“What if that’s not enough? Do we know what his next move is?” It was Felix that answered this time. Finally, some fucking backup!

“No, we don’t. He knows Holly is dead by now, so he thinks that all loose ends are tied up. He has no reason to rush back here. He won’t be stupid with his next move.”

“How can you be so sure. Why would he kill Holly? She was nothing to any of us.”

“Not exactly true. She was behind the fire at Belle’s house so he may have gone after her about that. Until we speak to him, we don’t know what he is thinking.”

“So why are you telling us this?” Beau asked, looking over at me.

“We need you to be careful. We are certain that we have him covered, as well as the four of you but he has slipped through once before, so you need to be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary. Call one of us straight away and we will get you to safety. We are at Ma and Pa’s all weekend so we have you all covered there, and Felix will be joining us with a few others close by.” Felix looked at me like I had grown an extra head, knowing what this weekend was to Vannah and I but if I had to tell them all this, then he was about to come join my wedding. Vannah spoke for the first time since we walked in. She stood up from the couch and moved past the others.

“I’ll go and give Ma the heads-up.” I nodded and watched her walk away to her office.

“Are you sure about this?” I gave Felix a nod.

“Yep. You both dumped this on me. You are coming too.” I headed after Vannah and closed her office door behind us. She looked up after setting down her phone.

“Is that why Neil is here?”

“Yeah, Sug, it is. We couldn’t say anything, but he came down to the station insisting we needed to tell Belle. I didn’t see the point in worrying her over it until we had more to go on. I was overruled though.”

“Why didn’t you want to say anything?”

“I don’t want anyone to do anything stupid.” She nodded and I moved around her desk. Sitting down on it, she moved her chair so that her head was laying in my lap. “You okay?”

“Think anyone would notice if you and I disappeared for a few months.” I chuckled softly and moved my hand to rest on her neck.

“I am pretty sure they would, Sug.”

“Damn.” Massaging her neck and shoulders, she let out a sigh as I tried to get her to relax a little. A big ask with everything that had just gone on, but it was worth a try.

Chapter Sixteen

Savannah

The next couple of days, everyone was walking on eggshells. We all had this big cloud hanging over our heads, pretending that we didn’t. My morning sickness had started so that had Cash on edge as well, it was only a matter of time before everyone started asking questions. I was able to keep it under control while I was at the shop, but Belle was preoccupied with the news of Dale, so it wasn’t too hard to do. Cash had told his parents what was going on, so I was glad by the time Saturday arrived. It was something good to take our minds off everything.

Cash and I left the house, after making sure I had everything a million times, and went to their house. He had gone around the night before after work to help set everything up based on the photos that I had given them of what I wanted. It wasn’t anything over the top. It was beautiful but simple. As we pulled into the driveway, he squeezed my hand.
