“Do you want to do that?”

“It’s a possibility. If we get the agents to handle it all though. I don’t want to have to worry about finding tenants or making sure they pay rent and shit.”

“Okay we can discuss that with them too when we go and meet with them.”

“It’s just a thought, we don’t have to.”

“We can get all the information and decide from there. Let’s just look at worrying about a new place for us so we can get settled on that before we worry too much about this place. No matter what we do, once we are out, this house will be ready for sale or rental either way. We won’t have to spend money doing it up.” I nodded and finished off my juice.

“Okay, we will decide once we get all the ducks in a row.” Sliding down off the barstool, I moved around and sat the glass on the counter and wrapped my arms around him. Shifting so he could do the same, I pressed my lips against his. “Take me to bed, baby?”

“Gladly. You want another drink?” Shaking my head, he moved to put the glass in the sink, something I would worry about in the morning after I had my tea, and crouched down, scooping my legs out from under me. Wrapping my arms around his neck, he headed for the stairs, stopping so I could switch off the light. When we got up to the bedroom, he carefully set me down. Stepping closer to me, he moved his hands to rest on my waist, playing with the hem of my shirt.

“That’s a nice shirt you are wearing, Sug, would look better on the floor though.”

“Then why don’t you do something about that, baby. Not like you to wait to get me out of my clothes.” He didn’t respond as his lips curled in a smirk and pulled my shirt up and over my head. Kicking off my shoes, he walked backward toward the bed. When my knees hit the end, he lifted me up and laid me down, my legs wrapping around his waist as he hovered over me.

“These jeans need to go as well, Sug.” I didn’t have a chance to say anything before he was pulling back away from me. Undoing the button, followed by the zipper, I lifted my ass as he pulled them down my legs and dropped them to the floor.

“You are way too overdressed so don’t even think about getting back into bed with me before losing all of that.” I motioned up and down his body with my hand before resting back on my elbows, a soft groan leaving me as I watched him slowly get undressed. When he finally moved back to me, I wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist, my body pressing against his. Cash ran his hand along my side and along my back. He lifted me off the bed as he held me against him, his hand finding the clasp of my bra and undoing it. A talent he had perfected over the years.

We pulled apart just long enough for him to take it off me and throw it over his shoulder before my arms were back around him and our mouths moved together with a deep passion. He pulled back once more, his lips pressing soft kisses along my jaw and down my neck. Tilting my head to the side, enjoying what he was doing. That was until a phone started ringing. Mine was downstairs so it was Cash’s on the bedside table. He slumped against me.

“For fuck’s sake.” He unwrapped his arms from around me and moved to get it. He frowned looking at the screen. “James speaking.” He listened to the person on the other end of the phone before letting out a sigh. “I’ll be right there.” He hung up the phone and moved off the bed.

“Everything okay?”

“No, that was one of the guys from the station. It would seem Austin went and got blind drunk tonight after I left. He is down at the station while he sobers up or one of us goes to get him and as Beau is on night shift, lucky me gets to go and get him.” I slumped back on the bed and pulled the covers over me while he got dressed.

“Couldn’t you just leave him till the morning? Teach him a lesson?”

“I would but Carmella is on tonight. You know what drunk Austin is like. I don’t want to subject her to that.” He moved over to kiss me before grabbing his phone, wallet, and keys from the dresser and left to go get Austin. Once he was gone, I got up and into my pajamas before brushing my teeth and climbing into bed and began plotting his death. I knew Cash would bring him home so he could keep an eye on him, also so that I could give him hell in the morning with his hangover. I knew I should be going easy on him given the circumstances, but the idiot knew not to drink himself stupid when he went out. We would be reminding him of that.

Chapter Seven

Cash

Iwas going to kill him. He may have been my flesh and blood, but he was dead. If I didn’t kill him, then Savannah might for interrupting just as I was getting started. Pulling into the parking lot of the station, I got out of my truck and went inside. Pulling the door open, I walked to where Carmella was sitting behind her desk.

“Where is he?”

“He’s in the holding cell sobering up.” She sat a clipboard down in front of me. “Sign that and he is all yours.”

“He been okay?”

“Nope and if I never see him again, I will be more than happy.” I winced.

“I’m sorry, Carmella.” This is what I had been worried about. He was drunk and hurting which was never a good mix. He would regret it tomorrow though, I would make sure of that. Picking it up and signing the release form, I sat it back on her desk.

“You want me to go get him?” She nodded and pushed herself back from the desk.

“I’ll be in making a coffee. Get him out of here quickly please?”

“Sure thing.” I took my keys out of my pocket and moved toward the holding cells. Austin looked up as I got closer. “You know I have half a mind to leave you here right?”

“Why don’t you?”

“Because I couldn’t do that to Carmella.” Unlocking the cell, I opened it and stepped to the side. He got up onto his feet and moved over to me.
