I grin back at him. “I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life.”
He pats me on the back, and we both turn. There are only fifty guests in attendance. My immediate family, Quinn’s immediate family, and our closest friends, including Valeria and Cindy.
And our baby girl, Hope. When she was born, Quinn said, “Hope. Neither of us gave up hope. Let’s name her that.”
My mom and Quinn’s are sitting next to each other and taking turns holding her.
A month before the baby was born, Quinn and I got together with her mom and brother. Things were still a little awkward, but once Hope was born, it seemed like she melted any issues away.
Steven actually is a good guy and we’ve finally made our peace.
Quinn published her first book shortly after I came back. The dedication read,
To Jamison,
Without your belief in me, my dream would never have come true. But it’s not only about this book. You’re my biggest dream come true because we are more than paper.
XOXO forever,
Quinn
Her novel has beena huge hit, and she’s published several over the last year. I never doubted anything different would happen, but Quinn’s confidence as an author has grown, and I couldn’t be prouder of her.
When I got back, the paparazzi wouldn’t leave Valeria and I alone. After several months, we had a press conference announcing our divorce, and Valeria told the world that she was a lesbian. She and Cindy got married the following month and both are actively involved in gay rights now. The press stopped hounding me and turned its attention on them.
The music starts to play, and Piper, Charlotte, and Vivian walk down the aisle. Noah and Xander are behind Chase with me.
At the first notes of “Here Comes the Bride,” everyone stands and turns.
Quinn appears, in a white formfitting dress, with a long veil over her strawberry blonde hair. She’s shimmering in the sunlight, and her eyes glisten. My heart pounds, and I wipe at the tear falling.
Hospitals, weddings, and funerals, I don’t stand a chance at.Quinn’s voice from the first day echoes through my mind, and I chuckle at the memory.
Apparently neither of us do, doll.
Steven walks her down the aisle. Our eyes never leave each other’s.
“I love you so much,” I mouth to her.
She blinks back more tears.
When they reach me, I cup her face and kiss her. I didn’t plan on it, and isn’t the normal way weddings go, but Quinn and my journey hasn’t been normal. We decided when I returned that we were going to throw notions of normal out the window and always do what we felt was best for each other...for us. And we were never again going to worry about what anyone else thought.
She parts her lips for me, and I roll my tongue against hers as she grabs my head and deepens our kiss. I hardly hear the hoots and hollers of our guests. When I pull back from it, I push my forehead to hers. “You’re stunning, doll,” I murmur to her.
“So are you,” she whispers.
The official clears his throat. “Should we get started?”
We smile at each other and turn, my arm around her waist, my other hand in hers with her pink ring sparkling in the sunlight.
The officiant starts the ceremony, and it comes time for our vows. We have written our own, unlike my previous two weddings where everything was canned.
I take Quinn’s hands in mine and stare at her beautiful blue, tear-filled eyes. “Quinn, I give you my vow that you’ll always be my number one priority and I’ll love you above all else, more than paper.”
She nods. “Jamison, I give you my vow, that you’ll always be my number one priority and I’ll love you above all else, more than paper.”
There is nothing else we need to say to each other. Till death do us part is not even a question.
