“I wish you did not have to depart so soon,” Ekoya says as Cruvo stands behind her playing with her mane. At one point, he takes a step back, his brow furrowed, before straightening her crown. It is a subtle act, one Ekoya did not even register but caused my throat to tighten at the tenderness of it.

“As do we,” Waldric replies. “But we must return today. We have had a wonderful time visiting you. You must come see us soon on Oluura.”

“Ooh, we shall!” she exclaims, clapping her hands together. “I would love to see your village.”

“Is Vye-let settling well here?” I ask Ekoya. We have not seen her since we left the ship upon arrival.

I am surprised you remembered her existence at all,Waldric sends.

It is hard to forget the female I previously thought was stealing my mate from me,I reply.

“Yes! She is thrilled to be back here,” Ekoya says. “I had not realized the tether formed between her and Polek, but seeing them together now, there is no doubt.” Then her head tilts as she stares at Waldric and me, her expression warm. “You are a glorious match,” she finally says.

“Agreed,” Cruvo adds with a nod.

He speaks,I send Waldric with a note of sarcasm.

He chuckles inside my head, replying,Those who remain quiet are often the ones with emotions as deep as the sea. Do not underestimate them.

It is a valid point. Once again, I am grateful to have this male inside my head.

Even if I distract you from your work?

Especially when you distract me from my work,I reply. How am I supposed to make new memories if I never leave my shop?

He sends me a mental gasp.I will remind you of this when we get home.

I squeeze his hand, silently thanking him for loving me.Do not ever let me forget.
