“He only proposed sixty min—” Brooklyn starts, but I cut her off.
“June would be good, but no later than July,” I say.
She turns to me with wide eyes. “Sweetie, it’s May.”
“I know, but if you want three to four weeks in Europe before you start your masters, we have to get married immediately.”
“You’ve been thinking about this, huh?”
“Baby, I already have an officiant, a caterer, and a decorator on retainer.” I lean into her and whisper in her ear. “We can slow down if you want, but I don’t want to spend another minute without you, and I can’t wait to start our life together. We have little family between us, so a small, intimate wedding would be perfect, and unless I’ve misread you, it’s what you also want.”
Brooklyn turns into me, bracketing my face with her hands, forgetting our audience all together. “It’s exactly what I want.”
“In our backyard with our terrace for the ceremony?” I throw out there, knowing that’s exactly what she’s fantasized about for her big day.
“Yes.” Tears once again fill her eyes.
“I know you, baby. I pay attention and am ready to give you exactly what you want.”
“But who is going to clear your calendar?” She grins, a devilish glint in her eye, and I know it’s time for us to go home.
“Camden.” I chuckle, pulling her tight against me and kissing her until we’re both breathless. “Let’s go home.”
