“Nope,” Magic said with a grin.
The elevator stopped on the ground floor and they all got out and headed for the exit.
Once outside, Magic headed toward his car with Stella, and Dash propelled Holly toward his.
“Call me later!” Stella called out as Magic led her away.
“I will!” Holly told her.
Dash stopped abruptly, and Holly literally walked right into him. But of course, he didn’t let her fall. He wrapped his arm around her, holding her steady and plastering her to his front. He leaned down and nuzzled the side of her neck. “No calling or texting Stella until tomorrow,” he said.
Goose bumps broke out on Holly’s arms as he continued to kiss and caress her neck. He knew she was super sensitive there and was obviously trying to drive her crazy.
“And no texting her with your rating of our sex in the middle of the night either,” he added.
Holly couldn’t help but chuckle. She’d thought he was sleeping the first night they’d made love, when she’d impulsively texted Stella telling her that he was a twelve on a scale of one to ten.
“Can’t you give me a hint on where we’re going?” she pleaded.
“Nope,” Dash said, standing up straight, then grabbing hold of her hand once more and walking toward his car.
“I hope we’re not going out, because with you dressed like that…I’m seriously underdressed for any kind of fancy dinner.”
“You’re beautiful,” Dash said. “Perfect exactly how you are.”
Holly loved that about her man. He was constantly complimenting her. If she were a vain kind of woman, all his praise would’ve gone to her head by now.
He held the passenger door open for her and once she was settled in the seat, closed it and headed around to the driver’s side. He started the car and headed for the road. He drove off the Army post, then glanced at her. “Close your eyes.”
“What?”
“Close your eyes,” he repeated. “You know this town like the back of your hand, and I want our destination to be a surprise.”
“I love you,” Holly blurted.
For a second, surprise showed in Dash’s eyes. But he recovered quickly. “I love you too.”
“I just…whatever you’ve got planned, thank you. But you know I would’ve been happy spending a quiet night at home with you. The fort you made last year is one of my best memories of our time together.”
Dash reached out and palmed the back of her neck gently. His thumb caressed her skin sensually. “Mine too,” he agreed. “And you’re welcome. Now, stop stalling and close your eyes.”
Holly chuckled. She grabbed his hand, kissed the palm, and closed her eyes.
Dash twined his fingers with hers and rested their connected hands on the console between them.
Within a minute or so, Holly was completely lost. She’d tried to keep track of where Dash was driving, but he must’ve taken extra turns on purpose, because she couldn’t envision where he was taking her.
Ten minutes later, he stopped the car. “Stay here with your eyes shut,” he ordered. “I’m coming around to get you.”
Holly nodded. She heard the driver’s side door shut, and she couldn’t help but feel a bolt of excitement go through her. Dash loved her. He was attentive and generous. But he wasn’t the most romantic man in the world. Then again, who needed grand gestures when they had a man who did household chores without having to be nagged, who gladly dragged the trash can to the curb once a week, who put up with her love of rom-com movies, picked up a romance book he saw at the grocery store just because he thought she might like it, and who never complained about having to sleep in the wet spot after they made love?
Thinking about how that wet spot always came to be made Holly smile. On top of all his other good qualities was the fact that Dash was an amazing lover. He always made sure she had an orgasm, or two, when they made love. She’d never imagined this would be her life, and she’d do whatever it took to keep it.
Holly jumped when the door next to her opened. Dash chuckled.
“Did you forget I was here?” he asked.
“No,” Holly lied, not wanting to admit she’d been lost in her head.
