And when he finally realized I wasn’t lying, his words stopped my heart in my chest.

“I fucking love you too, Sloane. Holy shit.”

I gripped his hair and pulled his lips back down to mine as his hips pumped against me. With his knees digging into the mattress and my legs locked around him, our bodies became one as we celebrated our monumental victory. He pinned my hands above my head and fucked me until the bed started scooting across the carpeted floor. The sounds of wet skin slapping wet skin filled the spaces between us while I chanted his name like a breathless prayer. I kept repeating those words, telling him how much I loved him as my tits buckered and my back bows.

And when my toes began curling, I grew speechless.

“Oh, God--Finn--I’m--it’s--you’re--.”

He bit into my shoulder and growled. “Come with me, gorgeous.”

“Finn!” I cried out.

My body unraveled as my mind went blank. Silver stars burst in my vision before my eyes rolled back and I allowed the pleasure he afforded me to take over. He growled and rutted against me. The wild beast finally came out to play as he gripped my tits and hung on for dear life. His cock grew thicker with every stroke of my walls as I milked him dry, and when I heard my name fall from his lips I knew he was close.

“Shit, Sloane. Just like that. I love you. I love you. I love you.”

“Oh, fuck,” I whimpered.

He collapsed against me when his dick exploded, sending strings of hot seed scouring my walls. He marked me from the inside out, kissing the teeth marks he’d left behind on my shoulder while his cock coated my walls. I felt full. Complete. Never in my life had I felt so at home within the arms of a man before.

And the thought of going home broke my heart.

“I should go tell the guys,” he panted in the crook of my neck.

I rubbed his back with my hands. “Just give us a few seconds like this. Please?”

He nodded and kissed my cheek. “Anything for you.”

I reveled in the moment. I committed it to memory before he slid away, his dick dropping from between my legs. I felt the evidence of our debauchery sliding down toward the bed, creating a wet spot I didn’t mind laying in as Finn began to dress himself.

And after kissing my forehead, he left to go tell the guys the good news.

I heard the rejoicing upstairs as I pulled myself upright. I heard the guys yelling and laughing with joy while beers were cracked open. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to celebrate, but after Finn’s admission that he felt the same way I did, there was only one other thing to do.

And I wasn’t sure how he’d take it.

“Sloane!”

Finn’s voice echoed down the stairs as I came out of the bathroom after cleaning myself up. “Yeah?”

He rushed around the corner. “You should come upstairs. We’re having drinks to celebrate.”

I shrugged. “I’m okay, but thank you. I have my own ways of celebrating.”

He snickered. “What? Like finding another case to work on?”

I cleared my throat. “Possibly. Maybe I could find another job to work on around here, or something.”

He blinked. “Wait, what?”

I held my breath, trying to find the right words. “This case showed me a lot. It showed me what I want out of life and it showed me that this job--this detective stuff--is really wearing down on me. I mean, the hoops you always have to jump through and the book you always have to abide by. It’s exhausting, you know?”

He walked toward me. “You don’t want to be a detective anymore?”

“No, no, no, it’s not that. I just--wish I could live a little more in that gray area, so to speak.”

He grinned. “We rubbing off on you?”

I rolled my eyes. “Not that much, you’re not.”

He took me into his arms. “Well, just to let you know--though I’m not sure you want to know this--we have a guy on the inside that’s going to be keeping an eye on Chops.”

I blinked. “That’s why I no longer want to work for the police.”

“Do you want to hear what his instructions are?”

I couldn’t help myself. “What are they?”

Finn kissed my forehead. “We’re gonna have Chops sweat it out through his interrogation, and when he goes to jail he’ll be set up in a jail with a bunch of innocent people he’s thrown under the bus and put behind bars.”

My eyes widened. “Holy shit. They might just ki--.”

And when it clicked, I didn’t feel terrible about the outcome.

“You know what? Serves him right,” I said.

Finn chuckled. “I wasn’t sure what kind of a reaction you were going to have, but I’m pleasantly surprised.”

I pulled away from his grasp. “You know, it’s pretty easy to set up my own detective agency here.”
