“It is.”

Cade lifted his glass. “To everyone getting through the next four days without making my wife cry for the wrong reasons.”

Bliss turned toward him. “Your wife?”

“Future.”

“You can say it again.”

“My wife.”

She kissed him before anyone drank, forcing Cade to balance both their shots while returning the kiss with enough enthusiasm to make Aura clear her throat.

“You have a suite,” Aura reminded them.

“We paid for the castle,” Cade said against Bliss’s mouth. “I’ll kiss her wherever I want.”

Ryan looked at me. “They’re worse too.”

“They’re getting married. It’s temporarily acceptable.”

“Define temporarily.”

“Until Sunday brunch.”

“Then we intervene?”

“Violently.”

His smile appeared before he could stop it.

I lifted my shot. “To the bride and groom surviving their own wedding.”

Ryan touched his glass to mine. “And the rest of us surviving them.”

We drank.

The second shot went down easier than the first, which probably indicated nothing responsible. Warmth spread through my chest and settled behind my face while the room became brighter, funnier, and considerably less threatening.

Briggs started explaining why he should be captain of the wedding-party competition. Cade rejected the nomination before he finished. Easton nominated himself, and Aura threatened to join the opposing family team if anyone gave him authority.

“You can’t defect,” Bliss said.

“I go where leadership respects me.”

“I respect you.”

“You labeled my shirt Maid of Honor Two.”

Ryan turned toward me. “There are shirts?”

I nodded. “Custom competition shirts.”

“What does mine say?”

“Best Man.”

“And yours?”
