I pull into the movie theater parking lot and I hear her gasp beside me.

“Seriously? The movies?” She smiles up at me.

“Figured it was a decent place to keep a low profile, as your brother might put it.”

“Yeah, we’re just not going to mention to him we left the hotel.”

“That’s for the best.”

We enter through the double doors, where the large mass of people exiting and entering the theater fill the air with noise.

“Feel free to pick out anything you want.” I gesture to the wall of movie posters on the wall.

“Anything?”

I chuckle under my breath at her excitement. I already know I’m going to regret this.

She runs to the ticket kiosk, coming back fairly quickly with two tickets in hand.

“There is a concession stand over there! Can we get something?” She bats her lashes at me.

I smile down at her. “Whatever you’d like.”

“There are so many options…” She sounds discouraged.

“What sounds good?” I ask.

“Nachos and cheese?”

I look down at the gloomy-looking attendant filling a soda.

“Can we get nachos and cheese, and two waters, please?” I ask casually.

Calli stands there doing a small happy dance to herself the entire time we wait for her food as I admire her.

“Thank you!” she says to the girl who hands her the food and I grab our waters.

“So what movie did you pick?” I ask.

She just looks up at me, biting her lip in a playfully mischievous way.

She picked out some romantic drama. We walk into the massive dark room and find a spot in the very back center of the theater. I look around and notice there’re not too many people here, only a few couples and some old ladies. I see you, Grandma.

The movie begins, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t grab me from the jump. A woman with a douchebag of a husband is on vacation for her birthday and runs into a dude who looks like a mob boss and he abducts her.

Seriously? I know Calli reads some kinky shit, but this is wild. The main male character is kind of hot though.

I glance over at Calli to see if she’s equally invested, and that’s when I notice her body language: Her knees are pressed tightly together, her hands gripping the hem of her shirt like she’s holding herself in place. Oh.

I think she likes it.

I turn my attention back to the screen and slowly place my hand on her thigh, giving it a deliberate squeeze. In my peripheral vision, I see her shrink slightly into herself, her shoulders tightening. I can feel her heart rate pick up—she’s embarrassed.

My fingers begin to glide higher along her thigh, slow and unhurried, when I feel her hand press over mine, attempting to guide me away. I glance at her.

She gives me a small shake of her head and hides her face, hiding a smile.

I raise a brow… and continue.
