I firmly grip his head and twist his neck. The snap echoes in the silence. Luna flinches. His body drops to the ground with a thud. Chase is still lying on the ground unconscious. I want to kill him, too. I’ve wanted him dead since the moment I saw him. Thank god I've been given a reason.

“I can’t let him go, Luna.”

“I know,” she responds so quietly. Her voice so broken and sad that it nearly breaks me in two.

“Will you hate me?”

She shakes her head at me. “You do such things that deserve me to, but I don’t think I ever can. Thank you for coming for me.”

“I will always come for you, my moon,” I coo before I move towards Chase and do the same to him, too. His neck snaps easily and another silence stretches across the room. Luna doesn’t flinch this time.

“Let’s get you dressed and back to your apartment. Take a bath or shower; I’ll take care of this.”

“I can he-”

“No,” I snap. Looking over the ground where they were, her clothes lay scattered with a knife on the ground. Part of me wonders why she found a crowbar instead of grabbing the knife, but whatever. I don’t care how she did it, but she fucking did. I couldn't be happier about the way she defended herself.

When I walk over to it, I pick up the knife to cut the zip ties off her wrists. When her hands are free, I watch her pick up her clothes. Luna stares at her shirt.

“They cut it off of me.”

Those words alone make me wish that I could revive these fuckers just to kill them again. I take my shirt off and hand it to Luna. She takes it from me and slides it over her body. She grabs her pants, sliding those on, too.

“Go,” I say softly.

“Okay,” she breathes out before walking away from me and the bodies on the floor.

LUNA

Numb. That’s all I feel. Even the warm water soaking me doesn’t let me feel anything.

My heart is broken. My soul is destroyed. My mental state is shattered. I never, not for one moment, would have thought Chase or Noah would do such a thing. I never knew the monsters that were deep inside of them.

Pain and love make you do crazy things.

I saw Jax before Noah and Chase knew he was there. Relief washed over me when I saw him, peeking through the cracks of my eyelids.

I knew it. Inside of me, I knew that he would come to save me. It’s funny that he was the one to save me when, all this time, I thought I wanted to be saved from him.

How did we end up here?

My ex is dead. My best friend is dead. My best friend held me down while my ex did unspeakable things to me. God, I’m going to need some fucking therapy. Lots of it too.

There’s a knock at the door. Fear runs through me. I’m terrified that anyone who comes near me is out for blood now. I lift myself from the bath, water drips down my body. I grab Jax’s T-shirt. It smells just like him, and it makes me feel secure.

Slowly, I walk to the door, and when I check the peephole, I sigh. Opening the door, it creaks as I slowly pull it wider. The two officers from before stand in my doorway. They give me a once over, noticing my lack of clothes, but I don’t care.

I should, but I don’t. I can’t.

The good cop on the left begins. “Unfortunately, we have reached a dead-end. The cameras were down for maintenance,” he explains. “We wanted to stop by and tell you. I apologize that it took so long; we got caught up.”

“I see. Thank you,” I respond. I’m not even mad. I thought maybe they would find something. Jax would have been in a world of trouble. I silently thank God.

“If you see or hear anything unusual, call us?” He offers as he hands me his card.

“Got it,” I whisper.
