The chapel doors shake beneath a heavy knock. Once. Rhys. Twice. Dante. Sloane looks past me. A third strike rattles the hinges. I step between her and the doors. Her hand closes around my arm.

“Let them in.”

I don’t move.

“Callum.”

The sound of my name almost makes me refuse. She turns my face toward hers.

“I chose all three of you.”

Jealousy turns bitter on my tongue.

“I know.”

“Do you?”

My attention drops to her mouth. Sloane reaches up and touches the rough edge of my mask.

“This doesn’t mean your turn is over.”

A fourth knock echoes through the chapel. Dante’s voice follows.

“If you murdered her, I’m going to be extremely offended.”

Sloane laughs. The sound loosens something inside my chest. Rhys speaks next.

“Sloane?”

Concern sharpens his voice. She looks at me. Waiting. I step aside.

“Tell them your color.”

Sloane keeps her eyes on mine.

“Green.”

The tension outside eases.

“Open the door,” Rhys commands.

My hand closes around the iron bolt. Sloane remains naked beside the altar, wearing nothing but my gold ribbon and the marks all three of us placed across her skin. I slide the bolt free. Before opening the doors, I look at her one final time.

“If they enter, everything changes.”

“That’s why I came.”

“They will touch you.”

“I want them to.”

“They will make you scream.”

Her smile is pure sin.

“Then make sure I scream your name the loudest.”

I pull the doors open. Rhys stands on the other side in his Reaper mask. Dante waits beside him wearing the face of the Devil. Their attention moves past me. Finding Sloane.
