Ezra exhaled. “I haven’t done anything to her.”
I pulled my hand from his and dropped my head back against the chair. “Because you don’t want to.” I swallowed. “It’s fine. I get it.”
“What are you talking about?”
I shifted in my seat and resisted the urge to moan as the seam of my shorts pressed against me.
“Seriously?” Cyn laughed. “You can’t tell when a woman wants to fuck you?”
“She’s not in her right mind. Something’s wrong. Raelynn. I need you to tell me what you’ve consumed today.”
“Consumed?”
“Food. Drink. Anything.”
“Some fruit and tea at the palace for breakfast. Gornak tenders and fries. Can’t remember the drink.”
Zeke turned to face me in his seat. “Was it from the same place you got the tenders?”
“What else?”
I rolled my head to look at Ezra. “Nothing except some candy before y’all got home with dinner.”
“Candy?” Cyn’s brow rose. “What kind of candy?”
“I dunno.”
Why did they want to talk? I didn’t want to talk anymore.
Ezra moved his chair back to its original spot and studied me. “And where did you get this candy?”
“Jax.”
Cyn threw his hands up. “That idiot.”
Zeke looked between us. “What’s wrong?”
“Jax is always carrying candy because of Kavina. But he also had a bag of starmins. He offered me some when we were having a break. But I don’t get why it’s affecting her so strongly.”
“She’s not completely Shyrlivi,” Ezra said. “It could have an adverse or stronger effect on her human side.”
“But what’s a starmin?”
Cyn looked at Zeke. “Little candies sold in sex shops that heighten arousal. But they don’t make you delirious. They’re not regulated drugs or illegal. The only reason they’re sold in sex shops and not in other stores is that they look just like regular candy.”
“Is she going to be okay?”
“I wonder,” Ezra said.
Cyn scoffed. “She probably just needs to get off.”
That sounded like a fantastic idea.
Cyn laughed.
I guess I said that out loud.
I grinned, remembering the box I’d packed and hidden in the back of my new closet. I just needed to go to my room, and then I’d be fine.
