“No, she wasn’t,” I snarled.
Gamble’s lip curled. “You were living with someone during that bulk of that time. Cheating comes in other forms besides the physical. What’s to say you aren’t going to cheat on Mickayla?”
“I never cheated. Hell, Sarah cheated on me - not that it matters now.” I stared at Gamble. “Mickayla’s the only woman I’ve ever wanted to claim because she’s the only one who fuckin’ gets it. Gets me, gets the life, and wants to devour all of it…at my side.”
“Those are just words,” Tiny said.
I shook my head. “I don’t give a damn how you take my patch, but I love her, and not one of you assholes are keeping me from her. Not even you, Gamble.”
I turned my back to them, willing someone to take a slice.
At least seven brothers spoke at the same time.
Volt pounded the gavel on the table. “Seeing as my daughter settled down with an older biker, I’ll share what I told Steel: I wanted Simone to find a man her age, who wasn’t in our life, but she’s always loved bikes and the MC world. Throw in how damned mature she is, if she had to find an older man, he’s the right man for her. Nobody loves her more than he does - besides me.”
“That’s your daughter, though,” Cynic said.
I turned to the side so I could see Volt and Cynic.
Volt tossed a hand up toward Gamble. “Mickayla isn’t mature? She came to us specifically to back this bar and grille concept because she thinks it can do well with both bikers and civilians. From where I’m sitting, if she’s gonna land an older biker, it’s clear nobody loves her more than Tundra — other than Gamble, and her brothers Ricochet and Nickel.”
“Should we put this to a Jacksonville vote?” Blood asked.
“Do you really think we need it?” Volt asked.
“I’m lookin’ at a couple of very pissed brothers,” Blood said.
This was it. The make or break moment with the men I’d spent over two decades calling my brothers.
“You’re sure you want to make her your ol’ lady?” Har asked.
I glanced from him to Volt. “Certain. Take the vote.”
“Does he get to vote?” Nickel asked.
“Patched members all get a vote. He earned his patch, he gets to vote,” Blood said.
“Permission to speak,” Lark said.
“Be fast, I’m tired of looking at Tundra’s pasty, pale skin,” Yak said.
“Shut up, Yak,” Blood said.
“We need to have three votes. One on his patch, one on whether we approve him claiming Mickayla, and the last on whether we hold her in breech,” Lark said.
I was ready to hold his ass in breech.
“One fuckin’ thing at a time,” Gamble bit out.
“Gamble,” Har said.
“Vote to strip Tundra of his patch and position in the Riot MC. We’ll start with those against it,” Volt announced and raised his hand.
I raised my hand and glanced around the room. Ten out of the nineteen Jacksonville members had raised their hands.
“That’s why he shouldn’t vote. He’s the tie-breaker,” Nickel said.
“Fucking hell. You’re really that bitter?” Ricochet asked.
