Fuck.

That hadn’t occurred to me, and as special as that moment was when he’d told me to be sure I wanted to be his old lady, he didn’t say he wanted it, too. But I hadn’t missed his actions. It meant something to him - that was why I loved that moment and wanted to protect it.

“Well,” London prompted.

“I haven’t considered that, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind. Plus, I’m gonna call someone who might have better insight into this.”

“Who can you call about this except me?” She demanded, her voice full of dismay.

I chuckled. “My Aunt Heidi. The way she talks about how she and Uncle Block came to be, it sounds very similar to what I’m dealing with since he’s fifteen years older than her.”

“All right. You want to add her to our call?”

I laughed. “Yeah, no. Nothing against you, London, but I gotta be really certain she won’t say anything to Block. Or my mom. I don’t know who’s going to lose their minds more.”

“It’s not their life.”

I loved my best friend. She so got it.

“Right, but they love me, and sometimes love has a way of acting out.”

“Yeah, which was why I wanted you to add her to the call. We could claim I’m the one with a biker—”

“No, not only would she see right through that, I need her advice about Killian and Ryan, too.”

“Right. Call her soon because you’re in deep, Mick. And I don’t care if he’s a biker, I’ll come for him if he does you wrong. Your brothers will stand in line behind me.”

“Okay. I’ll call her now. And, I’ll check with Tundra when he gets home. Is that a plan?”

“Definitely. Love you, MG.”

“Love you, too, LT.”

Deep down, I did not think Tundra was going through any midlife crisis, but I needed to put that question to rest. I sent a quick text to Aunt Heidi asking her to call me when she had a few minutes and was alone.

My phone vibrated immediately, Heidi’s name on the screen.

“You didn’t have to call me so quick,” I said.

“I have a few minutes. I’m alone in my car, and you never text me to call you. You’re direct, like me, and you’d just call. So, what the hell’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong, as such.”

She laughed. “You’re worse at lying to me than your mother.”

“When you first got involved with Uncle Block, did you ever think he was having a midlife crisis?”

The line went silent except for the sound of her driving. “All right. Hold, please. That’s the last thing I expected, I gotta pull over.”

After a few moments, she said, “Okay, you’re seeing an older man. How’d you meet him?”

I hesitated. “He’s a biker.”

“Girlie, let’s stop dancing around here. Is he in a club? And if he is, is it the Riot MC? And if so, which chapter - though I know it isn’t Biloxi because you aren’t here.”

“Yeah, he’s a member of the Jacksonville chapter, and he’s twenty years older than me.”

“Are you going to tell me who he is?”
