He gave me a dry look. “If you’d have turned away from Tundra, you wouldn’t have needed to turn to anybody.”

“Do you mean that?” I asked, staring at him.

He started to lift his chin.

“Think long and hard before you say anything,” Heidi advised.

“He makes me happy,” I murmured.

Block sat down in a chair next to my bed. “Are you sure? Seems a little fast.”

Heidi’s laughter filled the room. “That’s rich, biker man.”

“Heidi.”

Her eyes widened. “Oh, no. We went pretty fast too, maybe even faster than these two seeing as she’s been biding her time for months.”

Block’s face set and his eyes cut to me. “But you knew—”

“The heart wants what the heart wants. She didn’t act on it,” Heidi said.

He looked to her. “How do you know?”

Heidi turned to me. “Do you want to tell him, or should I?”

Since, I didn’t know what Heidi would say next, I said, “I didn’t think Tundra felt the same way. There weren’t any signs there until September, but then things went sour because he became an overbearing alpha biker on me.”

“Overbearing how?” Block demanded.

I almost smirked. “He lost his mind when I took Ivy and Alexandra out to an abandoned farmhouse—”

I stopped when Block held up a hand. “Yeah, I heard about that shit.”

“Well, Tundra gave me a piece of his mind, and I don’t tend to hold back either…so things took a while to get back to normal.”

“And ‘normal’ means hiding?” he asked.

“There was no point putting everyone through it if we realized it wouldn’t last.”

“Makes sense,” Heidi said.

Block shot her a look.

“Well, it does,” she said.

“It would, seeing as you didn’t want me to meet your mother.”

She cocked a brow at him. “That’s different, and not the point here.”

My gut said they were on track to start bickering.

“Are you actually mad at me or are you going to get over it?” I asked Block.

Heidi shot me a huge smile, then turned her smile to Block. “Think long and hard before you answer.”

He aimed a half-hearted grin at her before shifting his gaze to me. “I’ll get over it, but I’m never gonna like it.”

I shrugged a shoulder. “Wouldn’t that be true no matter who I chose?”
