That was one thing my brother could do for me.

I nodded at Tundra, then focused on Killian. “You need to take that tracker off. It’s an invasion of my privacy, brother.”

He nodded. “Already done. In fact, I might put it on Elizabeth’s car. Never know when that kind of information will come in handy.”

I held up both my hands with my fingers splayed like claws like I was shaking something. “Leave her be. It’s the boyfriend you need to deal with.”

Killian tipped his head to the side meaningfully. “Know who else said it was the boyfriend we needed to deal with? Our brother.”

I leaned back on the bed. “Whatever. You’ve got better things to do than sit in a hospital room.”

“You did it for me back in September.”

My nose started to sting, but I would not give in to more tears today.

“Go take care of the bar,” I suggested.

“Fine, but only if you give me a hug.”

I wanted to get more information out of Tundra about what happened during church, but London wandered into my room less than a minute after Killian left. She was decked out in a navy blue pantsuit and her stiletto heels were a snake print in a lighter shade of navy.

“London! Who told you—”

She closed the door behind her, dropped her navy blue hand bag on a chair and crossed her arms. “Girl, your ordeal is all over the news. The woman who cleans the bar is one chatty-Cathy, and of course the people who own the campsite said that man was ‘quiet and kept to himself’. I called Killian to get the scoop, and he told me where you were. I didn’t ask him, but I’m guessing you don’t have your phone.”

I shook my head. “It’s back at the bar…or I hope it is.”

Tundra pulled out his phone. “I’ll check with Volt. See if anyone knows.”

I wanted to ask why he wouldn’t ask Lark, but that confirmed my suspicion that there was more to what happened at church than he’d told me.

London pulled a chair up to my bed. “Tell me you’re all right. That bastard didn’t—”

I grabbed her hand. “No. He didn’t assault me sexually.” I saw Tundra still had his head dipped to his phone, and I lowered my voice. “Worst thing, other than being stabbed, was that I had to change clothes in front of him, and he backhanded me in the nose.”

She sat back with a scowl. “That’s plenty bad right there.”

“What’s plenty bad?” Tundra asked, looking up from his phone.

Flirting with danger, London aimed severe side-eye at my man. “Everything that happened to her. She’s got this habit of downplaying bad things or acting like she can ‘handle’ it.”

“All of that changes now. Are you thinking she’s gonna have PTSD or something?” Tundra asked.

London held her hands up. “I didn’t come here in a professional capacity, but anyone would have issues just based on what the news is saying.” She looked at me. “If they offer you a therapist, take them up on it, MG. I’ll talk to you anytime, but this kind of trauma isn’t my specialty.”

I nodded. “Right. I’ll do that, but really, this was an isolated incident.”

London looked at Tundra and back to me. “And that’s the kind of dismissive attitude I’m talking about. Don’t do that to yourself, Mickayla. Your brain is a beautiful thing, take care of it.”

“I will,” I said, giving her hand a squeeze.

London stuck around for twenty minutes chatting with me and Tundra before she had to get back to her office.

The moment she was gone, I sat up straighter in bed. “All right, big guy, there’s more going on with yesterday’s church session. I want all the details.”

He propped a hip on my bed and faced me. “Wild child, this isn’t the time or place.”

“There won’t be a time if we don’t take advantage now. Who voted to strip your patch?”
