Fireworks exploded behind Asa’s eyelids as pleasure overwhelmed him, groaning as he came hard, painting Zane’s insides. He let Zane’s feet fall to hang over the edge, chest heaving as he sucked in much-needed air. He vaguely heard Avi groan and Felix cry out, but he couldn’t even move.

Zane whined when Asa stood, scooping him up to reposition him on the bed beside Felix. “I’m all sticky now,” he whined.

“Give me a few minutes and I’ll run you and Felix a bath,” he said around a jaw-cracking yawn.

Felix and Zane yawned with him while Avi gave him a baleful look.

“I’m too tired to take a bath. I’m gonna sleep dirty,” Zane said, rolling to spoon Felix’s limp body.

“Sounds good to me, Lois,” Asa said, plastering his front to Zane’s back. “We can shower in the morning.”

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Zane asked, talking more to Felix than his husband and brother-in-law.

The pleasant buzz he’d built up throughout the day—courtesy of a few mimosas and two very strong gummies—was starting to wear off, replaced by an impending sense of doom.

“Yeah, baby. We said we’d do it and we’re gonna do it. It’s all good. Just hit the button,” Felix said.

Still, Zane hesitated. The four sat on the living room floor, Zane flanked by Asa and Avi, Felix between Zane’s spread thighs, his laptop open on the coffee table, facing them and the night sky behind them. They’d scoured the house to make sure some internet sleuth wouldn’t zoom in on the reflection in the glass and see something they might misconstrue—or accurately construe—as a sex toy of sorts.

Oscar and West had, once again, been kidnapped by their grandfather following the annual Mulvaney family 4th of July pool party. Thomas and Aiden had taken Theo and the grandkids to see the fireworks over the river. Cricket, Lola, and Calliope had agreed to help keep an eye on the chaos gremlins. Eight kids was a lot for anyone. Hell, it was a soccer team. Wasn’t it?

Zane chewed at his bottom lip until Asa tugged it free, giving the abused flesh a kiss that lingered.

Zane tried to deepen the kiss, but Asa pulled back. “After the live, I’ll give you what you’re so clearly begging for, Lois. We all will. But first, we need to make good on your promise to your fans.”

Zane whined, much more interested in letting the three of them take him apart slowly while he was still loose-limbed and pliant from the pharmaceuticals circulating in his system. He loved who he was when his brain was a little staticky and he could just lie there and take whatever he was given. Why had he ever agreed to this? Oh, right. Midnight margaritas and a live event where some dickhead had thrown down the gauntlet and a tipsy Zane had agreed without a second thought.

“These are your followers,” Avi reminded. “Why are you so afraid?”

“Not all of them. We advertised this. You know the trolls will be out in full force. Some people hate the Mulvaneys. Especially me. All those delulu Mulvaniacs who think Felix and I stole ‘their man’ will try to make us look stupid,” Zane said.

“You’re famous, Lois. Of course, people are going to hate you. You’re rich, beautiful, smart, and married to me. Who wouldn’t be jealous? You think Noah doesn’t get his share of haters for taking Adam off the market? Or Felix? Having haters comes with the job.”

“The job of being your husband?” Zane countered, slow-blinking at him.

“Yeah, Lois. That job. But also the true crime empire you’ve created. You just hit ten million subscribers. Remember? That’s why we’re here doing this Q&A,” Asa said.

Zane laid his head back on the couch behind him, staring up at the ceiling. “Can’t we just go play in the sex attic, instead? I’ll let you do that thing to me I’ve been talking about for a while.”

Asa’s strong hand trapped his jaw, wrenching his head towards him. “Which thing, Lois?”

Zane hesitated, then whispered, “The sounding thing.”

Asa’s groan shot fire through Zane’s blood. “Maybe—”

“No,” Felix said. “We’re doing this live because he promised we would. Afterwards, if you still want…that, we’ll do it then.” He turned to stroke Zane’s cheek. “Unless you want to do it with Asa alone.”

Zane lifted his head so he could frantically shake it. “No, I need you there. If you’re not there, I’m worried I’ll have a panic attack.”

“Maybe if the thought of doing it makes you have a panic attack, you shouldn’t do it,” Felix said gently.

“The thought of doing it is hot. The thought that something might go wrong is what scares me,” Zane admitted.

“I know what I’m doing, Lois. Hell, I even had the world’s most awkward conversation with not only Adam, but Freckles. Adam, because he’s done it before, and Freckles because he’s a doctor. You should have seen how red he was when the conversation ended.”

“Why didn’t you tell me that?” Zane asked, trying to ignore the way his heart sank.

Was Asa keeping things from him?
