“Four minutes, my love,” he said, lifting me and pressing me against the door.

The first thrust made me scream, and after that there wasn’t much room in my head for anything except him. I wrapped my legs around his waist and tried to meet every hard thrust, moaning and mewling against him while Caius growled into my neck.

He had seriously understood the assignment.

He fucked me hard enough that the ridiculously heavy door started shuddering behind me. I buried my face against his shoulder, but there was absolutely no hiding the noise either of us was making.

Then it was too much.

I came screaming his name and bit him again like some sort of animal, hard enough that blood was running down his neck by the time his answering growl filled the room.

Caius pulled out before his knot could lock us together and stepped away almost immediately, like he didn’t trust either of us not to start again if he stayed close enough.

Probably sensible.

I was still leaning against the door, trying to remember how breathing worked, with his cum running down my thighs, and his cock was still leaking.

“I'll clean you, baby.”

I went over and dropped to my knees, licking the last of his cum from him before tucking him gently back into his underwear and fastening his trousers.

The second I stood up, Caius pulled me into his arms and kissed me hard enough that I wrapped both arms around his neck and held on.

By the time we stopped, I’d almost forgotten an entire military operation was waiting for him on the other side of that ridiculously heavy door.

I touched his face. “I love you, Caius.”

The words were already out.

I stared at him.

I’d never told a man I loved him before.

Caius stared back as love flooded our bond, so strong it was impossible to mistake.

“And I you, my love,” he said, his voice rough. “More than should be possible.”

I ran my thumb over his cheek. “Please come back to me.”

He lowered his forehead to mine. “Nothing will stop me.”

I kissed him one more time, then opened the door and walked back into the office, head held high.

A few conversations stopped. People looked at me. My mates looked at me too.

I didn’t even have to turn around to know Caius was behind me. I could feel his love pouring through the bond, along with something warm and fierce that felt suspiciously like pride.

Whether he was proud of what we’d just done or proud of us, I had no idea.

One thing was for certain, though: everyone in that office knew exactly what we’d been doing behind that door.

For once, I really didn’t care.

Chapter 28

Elowen

Almost two weeks after Caius left, I’d become very good at knowing which of my mates had climbed into the nest without opening my eyes. Leon kissed my shoulder before settling beside me, while Darius always checked the blankets. Alaric pulled me against his chest, sometimes still damp from the shower, and Lucien found my hand under the covers. I’d cuddle closer to whoever had joined me, usually falling asleep again before I could ask about his day.
