Okay, fine. I tell Dora everything.
But maybe I'll leave out the part where one look from Grimm Palermo has my knees behaving like I've suddenly developed a vitamin deficiency.
I smooth my hands over my dress again.
Not fidgeting.
Adjusting.
There is a difference.
“I should probably get back inside.”
Grimm's eyes remain fixed on me.
“Probably.”
Neither of us moves.
Well.
This isn't awkward at all.
I glance toward the Academy.
Back to School Night is still in full swing. Light pours from the windows, and I can see shadows moving behind the glass. Parents and students and teachers are all doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing.
Unlike me.
I'm standing behind the gym beneath a full moon with a man who looks like he owns several multinational corporations and possibly a small country.
And I'm enjoying it.
Way too much.
“Right,” I say.
“Right.”
Still, neither of us moves. I bite the inside of my cheek.
Is he waiting for me to leave?
Am I waiting for him to ask me not to?
Oh, Goddess. I am.
That's embarrassing.
I've known him for what?
Ten minutes?
Fifteen?
And already some ridiculous part of me wants him to say, Stay.
Not because I would.
