Oh.

My.

Goddess.

He's even bigger up close.

His head is enormous. His shoulders are broad and powerful, his fur blacker than the night around us.

And those teeth—yeah.

Let's not look at those. My heart bangs against my ribs.

“This seemed like a better idea when you were over there.”

His nose touches my palm. I gasp.

Cold.

Wet.

Very, very real.

His breath warms my fingers as his mouth opens.

For one terrifying second, all I can think about is how easily those jaws could close around my entire hand.

Instead, he takes the candy.

Gently.

So gently I barely feel his teeth.

I stare. He chews. Swallows. Then he looks at my hand.

“No way.”

His gaze moves to the candy bar. Then back to me.

“You want more?”

The tail moves again. I burst out laughing.

I can't help it.

The whole situation is absurd.

Five minutes ago, I was searching for delinquent teenagers. Now I'm feeding chocolate to a Wolf behind the gym.

“This is why I'm single,” I tell him.

His ears twitch.

“I'm serious. Normal thirty-six-year-old women go on dates. They meet men for drinks. Maybe dinner.”

I break off another piece.

“I wander around school grounds at night feeding strange Wolves.”
